The way wesley says Enkidu makes it sound like hes a relative of scooby-doo 😭

Barry

You've heard the word Bolg already this season.

BalrogQuote

Well, Archer was saying Heroic Spirits lack autonomy. When Shirou noted how Saber was, Archer did clarify that being summoned as a servant made that different.

banlungx001

prepare to feel the unbridal wrath.......OF SHIROU FXXKING EMIYA !!!

NECOdes

5th Holy Grail War is a missinformation war.

Oscar Medina

For context mana in Fate is a limited resource that disperses like helium. Mages created workshops to better control the mana in their environment and prevent their spells from going out of control or being observed. The ability to create workshops is so essential to mages that the Caster class has inherited it as a Skill called Territory creation. Gilles was not a mage in life so as a Caster he was not great, but this one was a real mage so her skills are on different level. Normally a Caster could not stand against an archer, but within her territory she is extremely capable.

CD Elio

Here's a Fact: Caster's voice actor is the same as Flamme from Frieren - Atsuko Tanaka, this is one of her famous character. Sadly she passed away around August 20, 2024 may her rest in peace.

Seif

It's worth to keep in mind when you're hearing stuff that seems to contradict what you know in Zero that Archer, Shinji and Kirei are all assholes who lie constantly. Shriou doesn't know shit so it's to their advantage that they can frame the HGW and Servants in ways that benefit them.

Xenovious

fyi them being summoned to the class just relates to their Noble Phantasm/what they are known for e.g theres another version of King Arthur that wielded the Lance Rhongomyniad doesn't mean they cant use other weapons/techniques etc

Ralph

i suggest you give up guessing who archer is because youll never guess it until it's revelaed 🤭

SolarPaul

"Man there's a lot of girls this time" There's a reason for that funny enough. The original Fate Stay Night game was released as an 18+ dating simulator....if you know what I mean. That is a large reason why the cast is mostly female and there are a lot of pretty girls hanging around Shirou as potential love interests (Rin Saber, Sakura etc....). The reason why Saber is female in the first place is because they gender swapped King Arthur because "a cute girl would sell the game better" according to the creators. And it worked lol. So yea, that is the meta reasoning behind why Unlimited Blade Works is so much more abundant with female characters and romance elements.

CD Elio

The thing is King Arthur is known for his weapon of the Lance Rhongomyniad in which case the British People meanwhile the rest of the world is Excalibur hence the summoning.

Zen

Yooo, thanks a lot for the early upload again! I'm down if this becomes the regular upload schedule, haha. Alright, so it's absolutely impressive that you managed to read into Shirou's aspect of "peace" this early on. And also, I think you guys has quite a grasp on Caster's ability, but to put things into perspective, in terms of pure technical skill, she absolutely outclasses top "modern" magi. A certain Doctor from Fate/Grand Order stated that her skill in magecraft ranked amongst the top 5 in the entire history. She's most definitely elite-tier, in the top 1% of mages of all time at the very least. Too bad that her reputation as a Heroic Spirit is relatively low due to her mythic deeds and the "Witch of Betrayal" stigma. Oh yeah, you can watch the OP and ED next week!

Caleb Martin

Yeah. Also remember that pretty much no one has the full picture, so even character like Rin who aren’t necessarily lying, might not know the whole truth either. Pretty much no one is a reliable narrator 100% of the story. Thats one of the reasons I love Fate, because you don’t know who’s telling the truth until you see it with your own eyes.

Caleb Martin

I don’t know, the show does drop quite a few hints. But they probably won’t get it until after the halfway point

Seif

In that regard, Zero is more reliable for the rules and info about the HGW because everyone there is an adult and almost everyonen are experienced Mages who are well informed so there is no reason to lie.

banlungx001

the H scene it self , if we compare by the amout of text , only amount to like 1.5% of the entire game though , i always feel it s a stigma of the VN , it s so unnecessary.

banlungx001

considering , wes and steph , is the most attention to detail anime reactor i ever watch , i would be surprise if they don t figure it out before the reveal.

Atlas

When I searched this up spoilers were one of the first things that came out naming archer so prob don't do this until after it's revealed.

banlungx001

so the anime version is so popular that it overshadow the real historical figure then , let me remove my comment real quick.

Fabien

Each time you theorizing based on what you saw last season (zero), remember at this point you shouldn't know. Always keeping that in mind, and having that extra knowledge of zero, you might undertand very quickly in F/sn where the author wants to take you in some regards.

brde

I think it's safe for watch OP and ED in next episode..

SolarPaul

It's not a stigma at all, some of the best written games are H games, having adult content doesn't take away from how good the writing or characters are. But it's important to understand the context for why the characters are the way they are, and in Fate's case even if the H scenes are only a small part, the themes of romance and abuse and trauma and love are a big part of the game and they are shown through a lot of those explicit scenes. I don't think they are unnecessary, they do a good job of grounding the characters and making them feel more real and passionate and less sanitized and childish. Also for a certain character their H scenes are directly tied to their entire character arc.

Infinite Winds

ED has been safe to watch for a while OP is safe to watch as of now

Temojikato

They're so close :))))

Fabien

Yeah archers can act more independantly, but casters too (making them even more dangerous for a master), for different reasons. For archers it's a special skill, for casters it's just a consequence of having large reserves of mana and of being outstanding mages (also, they can harvest mana). Thus, it can vary from caster to caster, while it's more automatic for archers.

The Anime Dude

Shiro was inspired to be a hero of justice by Kiritsugu, so I always found this line @ 54:21 to be so ironic… “Most of all, I can’t let myself lose to that bastard who said he’d sacrifice the few to save the many.” 😭

ginta2109

Always insane realizing how many hints they’re dropping all the time when you rewatch it.

pylonsf4

Insanely counterproductive comment. In multiple ways even...

Fabien

Only 3 of girls can be love interests: Saber, Rin and Sakura. It doesn't really explain the rest, caster herself is never sexualized in the visual novel, not even a little. In general, I feel your comment is a little premature for them, the way you phrase it might give the wrong idea: even banlungx001's 1.5% is overestimating the number of sex-scenes. I spent 90h on this visual novel, and there were maybe like 5 scenes in total, like what, 15mins in total. It represents almost nothing. Also, the console version simply removed them and put something else instead.

Fabien

They might figure it out only because of your comment... Sometimes saying stuff like that is saying everything.

Runhua Tang

There's basically zero solid historical record on Sasaki Kojiro, and even his legends are inconsistent and heavily debated. No one knows where he came from, when he was born, or any of his personal stories. The only consistant part about his legends are: 1: He uses a really really long sword. 2: He developed a technique that's related to sparrow in some way. 3: He was killed by Miyamoto Musashi, which sadly is what he's most known for. There's a reason he calls himself a "nameless swordsman" despite being such a badass.

Ramms

Archer backstory was my favorite from this series

Mr.John Cordero

Archer does feel very bipolar which makes it funny with his pairing with Rin. With the pacifist thing in a way Archer has not involved a single person outside of the war directly and is against doing it himself. Caster did kill a few people while absorbing mana due to taking too much but now she takes enough to still leave them alive just extremely exhausted or in coma. Something they told us in Zero was where the three major leylines of the city are located in. The Tohsaka manor, the Civic Center, and Ryuudou Temple which is where Caster decided to build her workshop and establish territory. Gilles (Zero Caster) didn't have to worry about mana because his book Noble Phantasm gave him an infinite supply.

gaaarg

Its fun seeing Wes and Steph theorize about historical figure/legends but i hope Fate inspires them interest and curiosity for figures outside of the western world. Sasaki Kojira is interesting in that he props up someone else's legend, the context of his legacy as one who is compared to the greatest of all; makes for an interesting question for this man who could very well become the greatest swordsmen in his own right. His own invented technique the Tsubame Gaeshi (the swallow cut you witnessed) is also great in depicting the contrast in eastern story telling/myth where power is cultivated rather than obtained in comparison to something like Excalibur.

A Guy

While it might not be a significant amount of the run time, it’s still a part of it and I find it kind of distasteful to act like there is no place for it. Eroge are a good example of being able to tell fantastic stories while also serving more fan service ends, more often than not melting the two. You have Tsukihime, The Black Souls series, Saya no uta, SubaHibi and many more. The only reason fate doesn’t really do eroge as much nowadays is due to the effect, it has commercialization. But almost every entry into the series has had an amount of Fan service even within the more harrowing entries.

Kinx

If I’m not mistaken, the grail itself cursed Kiritsugu, back in Zero (shortening his life span), because he denied the grail, wasn’t complete yet, and/or tried to destroy it.

SolarPaul

I never said the H scenes are abundant or takeup a lot of time in the narrative. I just said they are there and are relevant to the characters and explain why the cast is so female heavy compared to Zero. It's important context, especially if they are going to watch heavens feel or any future series. Fate does not hide it's roots or the fact that it is a mature series. Sex is something that comes up in the series, heck depending on how deep they dive into the lore there are servants who use sex as an NP lol

D. L. Pulver

One of the amusing things about the weapon Archer named is that according to its own legend it was wielded by at least eight different heroes (or other entities) across three different cultures.

GreenLeafDrago 501

ha ha. It's hard not to think of jokes from the Abridged series when watching the regular show.

Paul Stetcu

The reason the serial killer master got along with Gil is because he didn't use a relic to summon a specific servant in that case the grail summons the servant with the most affinity with the master. It's kinda like the master becomes the relic but since the result is random and not all servants have great fighting ability every master tries to summon the strongest servant they can. I like this part of the lore because it implies that if you don't want drama you have to take the risk you may be mid as a summoning material.

GreenLeafDrago 501

Shirou's regeneration is insane; he got his entire back sliced open and by the time he got home he was already asking Saber for training.

d34ddud3

Also the characters in Zero tended to mostly, kind of, lie by omission. The story was presented well in that a character presenting information was committing a lie by omission from a meta perspective, but from their character perspective they were just focusing on what information actually matters. I think it's a great aspect of Zero that made it a lot easier to understand the characters quickly. Especially important because there were so many deep characters to pay attention to.

GreenLeafDrago 501

I can't remember exactly but I'm pretty sure you're right, he was talking to the thing that was pretending to be or using the body of Iri that was called something like the Angry Mango, and denying the grail made it upset because for some reason it was denying it's birth. Being so angry that it cursed Kiritsugu while Kiritsugu was choking Iri's body out.

d34ddud3

Then there's FATE/GO making EVERYTHING more complicated. "Oh, a heroic spirit can actually be summoned to ANY class. It's just USUALLY the class that fits their legends and stories best." I do believe, for example, if a few heroic spirits were swapped out in Zero for different ones and summoned in a different order Iskandar could have been summoned as a Saber class instead. Though, Rider would have to be taken already for that to happen. Because of the use of catalysts in summoning the heroic spirit they could just end up in a class that doesn't really suit them.

DocGreen

Learn something new every time a rewatch this franchise

tan pohheng

There's some info on the servant class inclinations/skills that you've been hearing about though the Fate series so far that would have been somewhat explained by the servant stats screen (because canonically, every master can see the general stats of the servants they fight) in the original VN that is in no way explained explicitly in either Fate/Zero or Fate/Stay night. Up to this point in the FSN story, you would have gotten info that archer has the independent action skill which allows him to act separate from his master for extended periods, saber has the magic resistance skill which nullifies /reduces effects of weaker magecraft, caster has territory creation which allows them to make or establish areas where their own magic will be stronger and berserker has madness enchantment which trades their sanity for extra stats.

d34ddud3

Honestly I really like your Odysseus theory, pretty compelling argument! I'm excited for you guys to get the definitive answer. Whether it's through the drip feed of info throughout or the outright reveal I think you guys are gonna have a lot of fun with his character once his identity is confirmed.

d34ddud3

Also here's a bit where I'm in the same boat as you, I don't remember much beyond this point aside from a couple fights, so this is based on this episode and things from FATE/Zero. Regarding the Matou's: Back in Zero near the beginning Zouken mentioned offhandedly that Kariya had much more potential than his brother for magic. No name was explicitly mentioned in the scene according to memory, but there was a scene where Kiritsugu briefly interrogated a guy that looked a lot like Shinji. It could be surmised that Shinji was learning the Matou magic the whole time, but Zouken didn't see potential in him beyond that of an average mage and that wasn't good enough. I would then guess that it's possible Sakura might be a better mage potential wise, but doesn't want to become a mage and likely wouldn't have any reason to want the grail, so she wouldn't be a likely candidate for the Grail War. Whereas Shinji might have confidence issues because he was passed up for an adopted family member, resulting in his overconfident behavior, and getting the Grail would prove his worth. Again, just theorizing based on Zero and up to this point in Stay Night (UBW). I've forgotten most of what happens after this point.

rryutie

27:39 lolol I dont have anything specific to mention, awesome reaction as always!!

del

Very clever bit of staging in the conversation between Archer and Shirou at the beginning of ep 6. While Archer and Shirou are talking, theres a traffic mirror between them. A sign on the post has 注意 written on it and an arrow pointing up to the mirror. 注意 can translate as “pay attention”, “warning” or “caution”. And reflected in that mirror… is Archer lol

Nus Nus

In the original visual novel Shirous inner dialogue during his and archers convo was that he actually does agree with archers logic but its just fundamentally against it. Also a lot of the stuff you know from fate zero are plot twist so thats why theres a lot of mystery on things that you learn in fate zero

Arjuna

Except Kirei doesn't ever lie. He has said half truths or remained silent, but never straight ups lie.

Seif

He absolutely lies! That entire conversation in the church was almost nothing but lies! "The Grail that appears in Fuyuki is indeed the genuine article" No it isn't. "The Grail selects it's owner by having it's Master's fight to win it" No it doesn't. The fight is a biproduct of the Three Families not being able to cooperate. "The Grail is an omnipotent wish granting chalice" Kirei knows for 100% certainty that that is not true. "At the end of the previous Grail War an unworthy Master touched the grail. I know not what that Master wished; we can only see the aftermath" This is a total lie. Additionally, him letting Rin say "You need a Servant because the Grail is a spiritual object and humans can't grab it" is such complete and utter bullshit that it's a lie of omission by not saying anything. He almost certainly told Rin that in the first place, as there's no reason she would think that on her own.

Marcos cruz

Is 100% a stigma that H visual novels have, because it leads to comments like this, encompassing a story as vast as Fate with the tag of "18+ dating simulator" and that's where the issue lies and why the stigma comment is spot on, most hero journey stories have their basis in romance with several love interest, yet we don't call them "dating simulation" stories, same way we don't call something like game of thrones a "corn" show just because it uses sexual imagery to depict parts of the story. Was Saber change to be a female because they thought she would sell better merch, yes probably, but just calling it that dismissive of the great work the writers put in to make her story fit into the narrative, they could have easily kept the prototype concept and have the same type of narrative with Arthur being the main male lead. And also lets not kid ourselves before the rebranding of Fate into a more mainstream adaptation, most anime fans didn't touch the Fate franchise, because it was categorize as just a "corn" novel regardless of how good the witting is, how can you not call that stigma...

banlungx001

i hold on to this fact and not comment on it since fate zero , because someone told us excatly this line in heaven feels 2. SPOILERRRR

HopelesslyImmersed

What's with all the guided comments? Can yall quit it and let Wes and Steph focus on the mystery and ideals themselves? Yall think you're being smart and its annoying how obvious you're being in guiding their focus. Quit spoiling the mystery

SolarPaul

I feel like this is projection, YOU don't take dating sims seriously so you see it as a stigma, that's a you issue man. It reminds me of how people used to say cartoons can't be serious so calling something a cartoon diminishes it....no it doesn't. The medium and genre are irrelevant, good writing can exist anywhere. There are TONS of dating sims that are more well written and deep than 99% of the garbage being made into mainstream shows. Just because a game has dating sim elements or sex doesn't make it bad, that's 100% a stigma that you have and are projecting. I never called Fate a corn game btw, a dating sim isn't the same as a corn game, there are degrees and clearly Fate is a dating sim that had a much greater focus on the characters and narrative than on the corn scenes. But seriously dude some of the greatest anime of all time started off as dating sims, CLANNAD for example. No one is diminishing Fate except you "most anime fans didn't touch the Fate franchise, because it was categorize as just a "corn" novel regardless of how good the witting is, how can you not call that stigma..." Again, that's a THEM problem, not everything has to be for everyone. If people are too immature to handle adult themes and sex in their story then that is a fault on them and their emotional maturity, not on Fate. If you wanna label that a stigma, then fine, but that is a stigma on ya'll not the series. Grow up lol, Fate shouldn't be sanitized and made PG just to appeal to overly sensitive people who are too easily embarrassed by adult topics.

lemon ww

i love the idea of summoning legendary heroes to train you, fate has tons of like spinoffs in alternate realities, that would be an awesome idea for one !

Nikolai Ilushko

I like how you struggle to find Archer's true identity. When I watch this again it's amazing how many hints they put.

Nikolai Ilushko

I feel like you should watch the abridged version after finishing this 😅

Nikolai Ilushko

BTW you watched JJK so you should recognize Archer's voice 😅

kinetic98

Gill de Ray (French speakers rip) and Korea mentioned, you made my day thanks

Carlo Marasigan

They’ve already noticed details most people missed. I think they’ll figure it out as soon as we get to the date.

ReCursed

Waiting patiently is hard. I so want you to see all other fate at the same time can't wait for the episodes of this one

Gavern

Yeah, too many people are trying to be all tongue in cheek about it.

banlungx001

my bad , it s heaven feel 3 , not 2 , around 56:00 !!

eXxCeZz

You forgot that Musashi on purpose arrived several hours late to their duel pissing off Sasaki. Then Musashi bashed his head in with a fucking oar, from the row boat he rowed to the island on.

eXxCeZz

Sasaki, the savior of France❤️ Dragons are just bigger swallows :) Dunno how many remember or get it, but curious

banlungx001

any people who play day 1 will remember it , REGEND !!!

Vedhon

1 2 and 3 is debatable but i agree he does lie

Vedhon

is it making things more complicated? I think its only naturally if someone is legendary for more than one thing they should be able to show that off in different classes

Vedhon

what tokiomi meant when he said that archer class has the most capacity for independent action it was kinda literal cause archers have a common class skill called independent action that allows them to stay in the world without a mana supply for way longer than regular servants. The reason servants have to listen to their masters is that besides the command spells they are needed for the mana supply and anchorage so they stay in this world. So rather than they have more capacity for free action in and of itself its a kind of they can afford to take the risk of killing their master and looking for another one with the time they have

Kidd

Originally, Shirou was supposed to be a girl called Manaka and Arthur was a man. They gender swapped both characters in hopes this would sell their game better, same reason the badly written sex scenes were implemented. One stuck cause it was cool, the other didn't =)

d34ddud3

The part that makes it more complicated, to me at least, is that it implies that if Iskandar was the last one to be summoned in Zero AND Kirei had chosen to summon a Rider instead then Iskandar would have been forced to be Assassin class. Which would make no sense, but technically it should be completely possible unless there's yet ANOTHER rule to worry about. Like, what would Iskandar get to do as an Assassin? Or Diarmuid as Caster? Or FATE/UBW Archer if he were Lancer?(Rhetorical, no spoiling for W&S.) Some classes simply don't seem to work for some Heroic Spirits.

Nikolai Ilushko

When you will watch Naruto or Bleach you will recognize Shirou's voice on two characters 😅 BTW I really hope you will watch these in the future. Even though they are mainstream they are good shows.

Manoi

If I had a cent for every time an archer used a sword, I'd have two cents. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice also Rin: tHe ArChEr ClAsS iS mAdE uP oF aRcHeRs

S_Cero

You can see the eroge DNA in a lot FSN even after they removed the sex scenes. Notice how there's basically 0 men with screentime that are also on Shirou the POV character's side. Even Archer is extremely antagonistic to him while being Rin's servant.

A M

It's impossible to hate Shinji enough. Even after you learn what he's done in the VN.

Irithylia

On the topic of Archer being sexist, I noticed that Shirou also made a bit of a sexist comment (perhaps without realizing it) to Saber. When he came home late and Saber was angry at him, he said "Before you yell at me, let me explain-" as if it was obvious to him that Saber, a woman, would start yelling at him because she was upset (and I think Steph even made a bit of a face at that). They really are alike despite not wanting to admit it... Well, if you're stuck with Rin for long enough, perhaps any man would grow a bit bitter towards women, since she's... Well... A bit of a naggy woman. But at least Shirou hasn't spent as much time together with her as Archer, so he's not as bad... Right?
