The guy in breaktime is Alec Hoshin. He’s the guy who founded Kararagi and who Anastashia took her last name from (they aren’t related as far as we know, she just took his name as a sign of respect as she admired how good of a merchant he was.) Subaru thinks he was summoned from Japan just like him back in S3. This is actually his second appearance and the first one was in the isekai quartet movie! Genuinely ridiculous.

The voice for Volcanica is actually the same va as Erwin so thats great, its funny when you watch so much anime you start to recognize voice actors in like a second and then youre even more hyped for the new character whoever it is.

Crazy thing is they show his face only from "Isekai Quartet". Not even in the Re:zero breaktime until now. So Re zero fans have knowledge of him from Season 3 but no one recognized his face.

no spoilers just details, appreciation, and world lore! - echidna (fox spirit) shares the name of Echidna the witch of greed. And its poetic that this echidna doesnt have the same self serving greed as that witch, but the fox spirit did partner with someone who claims themselves as the greediest money hungry girl that wants everything! - It wasnt explicitly mentioned here but julius' spirits actually evolved here from normal spirits to quasi spirits which is the next evolution of spirits (just think of it like pokemon and theyre more capable). Breaking a contract with a spirit is described as literally damaging the soul and feeling as if you lost a part of yourself as well. Thats why julius didnt do this earlier as other reactors questioned because it would be like divorcing your partner. And in this context its like your partner has memory loss and 1 person is clinging on in hopes. But this one was beautiful since julius gained the confidence to form a contract with them again and trust his spirits would accept. - the subs here didnt make it clear at the end but julius was sure it was real ana because of her texas like accent came out again. This is actually another call back to episode 3 of the season when that cave scene happened and ram shot a bolt magic which sliced her in half. Since she also hit the scarf fox spirit vessel, and when ana is screaming the same accent comes out. This was actually one of the first clues to the whole situation since somehow real ana came out even though the spirit claimed multiple times she would glady give up her live to have Ana come out again. Except she never actually did which made it seem like she had bad motives but now you know! - Since the anime is mostly made just so people buy the novels, the animator for the fight got alot of free reign to do whatever to covey the emotions of the battle. Reid was given a more animalistic crazy dude cause he just wants a good fight and is enjoying himself (not to simplify the direction but its just so show hes getting hyped up and going crazy with it). Julius on the other hand got alot of minor things that might be missed but mentioned in various side stories. For example his birth flower symbolizing his rebirth shown in 21:30 which was the ice and earth magic setting up the layout for the shot. His favorite color slightly dying the tips of his hair. When he uses the first finishing move that blows up the arena, you can pause on the impact frame to see the alignment of the spirits before the strike hits, and the impact frame forms his sword hes holding. Lots of love and detail went into animating this fight! Gotta get back to work but thanks for reading if you did!

It was just a demonstrantion of how strong he is, and fun fact, Reid likes to eat Dragon meat, so because of him and his dragon hunt, there isn't many dragons left in the world. And yes, Volcanica is THE divine dragon, the one you were talking about in season 2, the one that protects this whole country of Lugunica and that people think of as if his a god. And the one that Roswaal wanted to kill for unknown reason, and he's one of three figures that sealed away Satella (second one is Reid, and third the sage Shaula, or rather as we know now - Flugel)

As an anime-only fan, I wouldn't consider the following theory a spoiler, but I've noticed an interesting star-related connection that might support the idea that Al and Subaru are linked. In real-world astronomy (though I'm no expert on that), Aldebaran (Al's full name) is a prominent star located right next to the Pleiades cluster, which is known as Subaru in Japanese. Even more intriguing is that Aldebaran sits directly between the Pleiades and the constellation Orion. Orion's second-brightest star is Betelgeuse, which is—from what I believe—directly connected to Petelgeuse, who also had a closer connection to Subaru compared to the other Sin Archbishops. I dare to guess that Rigel, the brightest star in Orion, will be the name of a significant character we might see in the future. The fact that all of them sit so close to each other in the night sky makes me really believe in your Al theory, and I wouldn't be surprised if we learn something like "Flugel's other name is Rigel." I'd really appreciate any corrections regarding the astronomy, but I kindly ask everyone to avoid any spoilers in the comments!

When Julius accepted he "lost" it was because Reid acknowledged him as a worthy swordman. Before Reid just called him prick or a bunch of other things, even when julius told reid his name several times. Only at the end did Reid actually called him by his name when he said "It's my win, Julius" which julius immediately noticed.

Its crazy how rezero put the MOST important pieces of lore set up for future plot in the breaktime. For exemple the Al one a week ago is extreamly important for one of the best arc of Rezero.

I mean reinhards sword is literally called the dragon sword reid. And Volcánica is the divine dragon. We also know the dragon hero and sage sealed away the witch of envy so it makes sense for them to have a connection

Tbh I feel like most anime-only watchers forgot the name Volcanica, including me lol. It's a been a long time, but yeah it's an incredible big deal. I can only imagine what someone who remembered his name immediately must feel at the end of the episode when he's revealed. He's like, been that mystical being mentioned since the very beginning and revered as a deity.

In my eyes this break time pretty much confirms Subaru is Flugel. Satella and Shaula both love Flugel. Satella and Shaula both love Subaru. There's no other logically explanation on why Satella is so obsessed with Subaru.

I love how julius uses actual fencing tecniques in his fight, that is so acurate to his "model knight" persona. The footwork and the sword movement in the coreogeraphy really amazes me.

Someone might already have pointed this out, but Anatasia's voice actor is the same as Rin in Fate! Ueda Kana is one of my favorite voice actors, especially when she does her kansai dialect.

Another fantastic Re: Zero sakuga moment! When the animations dials up to eleven, that's sakuga. A particular kind of animation that aims to deliver the intensity and emotion rather than looking realistic or proportional. So you can get some pretty crazy drawn characters. It's quite rare, actually.

Yeah Julius "lost" so convincingly that he thought he was being blown away and killed in the final clash only for Reid's body to fail and for Julius to be shocked that it was his sword that stabbed Reid.

2nd Trial Reid didn't recognize Emilia as Satella, so he wouldn't have to recognize Subaru as Flugel I think 2nd Trial Reid is a younger or earlier version from before joining them, because he also didn't recognize Shaula, and she looks the SAME
