To clear up some of the confusion on names, they are order in a Japanese fashion. So, Monkey is the family name and Luffy is the personal name, for example. As for the D., Saul explained that it was just a name that members of his family had and passed down, so it can be assumed that something similar happened with other families.

@Zachary They know what happens NOW (emphasis on the 'now' part). But that wasn't true a week ago. Now they can watch Season 1 with no risk of spoilers. Season 2 is a different story, however.

The thing with Shanks losing his arm is probably one of the most controversial things about One Piece and people come up with the wildest theories to make it make sense. But in my opinion, it’s just that Oda never thought the show would go on for this long and just hadn’t planned out every single detail, including power levels, at that point in the story. There are a few other things that are kinda weird in hindsight, like Haki, which we saw being used by Shanks in this episode (but that’s a topic for later, I guess). It’s just bound to happen that there will be some inconsistencies in a story that’s as big and long as One Piece.

Ok, first of all, love your reactions, as always. Now, some clarification / summary: Yes, all the people that have been given full names, follow the Japanese naming convention, of Family name ( any middle names if there are, or the initial D ) and first name Also, for the Blackbeard / Ace stuff that Shanks was talking about: He pointed at the 3 scars on his face, saying that while he was never careless nevertheless he was injured by Blackbeard, who, on Whitebeard's ship, was only a regular crewmember, not even a Commander ( like Ace ), and he says that Blackbeard never showed his true ability, because he was "hiding" behind the prestige and clout Whitebeard's name had, until he made his move and killed one of his crewmates and left, and Ace went after him, so Shanks says to Whitebeard, that while Ace is DEFINITELY strong, Blackbeard may be even stronger, and thus it was risky for Ace, at his current ability level, to go after him ( that's why he said "Hands off Blackbeard" ) And as an audience, we can surmise, from stuff we have been told, that since Blackbeard managed to injure someone as strong as Shanks, who wasn't careless around him ( even though we don't know if Shanks, when he was injured, was already at the level of an Emperor as he is now, or if he was weaker, but still, he would have already been phenomenally strong, since in his younger days, per Whitebeard's words, he almost daily dueled Mihawk, the strongest swordsman in the word )

“Fist of love must be love girl” oh how i wish, instead of the worst character in all of one piece, “isnt child abuse funny” character but garp was first introduced sleeping in middle of talking and same thing with ace , so thats bit of forshadowing, also coby was very short for his age so i guess he grew to his age, and arc ending means its lore drop time, fun fact luffy defeated that sea monster that took shanks arm, it was in the first chapter of the manga but they removed it from first episode of the anime,

To be fair, if we held anime characters to real world morals, there would hardly be any characters worth liking. You’d have sexual harassment Sanji, domestic abuse Nami, and money-stealing Luffy all just from this one batch of episodes alone.

Tbf the usual 4 episodes already feels like a binge so next weeks gonna be quite the long one. Even moreso now that maomao s3 is back as well as jojos p7 and both are on friday... Always love these between-arc bits though. They are content-dense even before the One Pace treatment

Since it's been brought up a few times and will likely be brought up again, here's my complete summary of when (not if) Wes and Steph should watch OPLA: Season 1 is free of spoilers and can be watched at any time. Season 2 should not be watched yet, as it has major spoilers. My recommendation is that they watch OPLA when Season 3 is out, at which time they should be less likely to be spoiled by things. Plus, they will be able to get those YT clicks while the OPLA buzz is high. There will probably be a new anime poll by then as well.

For discussion, here is my list of things OPLA S2 would spoil for W&S, given where they are, in approximate order of 'spoileriness', and where Wes and Steph would have to reach to avoid the spoiler. Let me know if I missed something and I'll add it. #1. Roger has a son who was looked after by Garp. His identity is not revealed in OPLA, but it's pretty easy to connect the dots. Marineford EP 1 in One Pace, W&S will get here around March. #2. Sabo is alive, and is a Revolutionary. (ep 663 - approximately Sept '27) Sabo 'dies' in ep 505 (~April '27) but OPLA shows "Top Hat Guy" is alive and hanging out with Dragon in Loguetown. The rest is easy to deduce. Granted, this being One Piece, a lot of people never believed Sabo's death anyway, and him running off with Dragon probably doesn't come as a huge surprise. #3. Roger was sick when he was executed. Crocus and Roger were friends. Piece Ep 400 - Wes and Steph will have reached this before the bigger reveal of Roger's son, so not much of a spoiler by comparison. #4. Bartolomeo has history with the Strawhats (639) and is a Luffy stan (650) Not a major plot spoiler since Barto is a side character, but it would still spoil the pretty funny reveal. #5. Brook, Rumbar Pirates, and Laboon (ep 380) Unless W&S start watching multiple OPLA episodes a week, they will get through Thriller Bark well before this is spoiled.

to my understanding, not all marines party behave the same, they act depending on their leader / admirals some work solely for the government, some are corrupt, some uplifts justice so thats why there are some thats extremly hostile towards the straw hats and some that are somewhat neutral or even work together with them
