PS: Do you guys know if we should watch Heaven's Feel on Crunchyroll or continue on reanime.to for better subtitles?

As far as release schedule, we're planning to do split each movie into two filming sessions each, so we'll be posting about half a movie each week going forward!

2026-10-25 21:00 Some context on Sunny Day OVA. It is based on the Good Normal ending. The ending the anime uses is the True Ending. The normal ending is achieved by playing the game normally and doing the right choices. Basically in a normal playthrough Rin and Shirou despite getting close cannot fully bond and Shirou maybe have feelings for Saber (it is based on Shirou's affection points with both heroines). Rin feels bad about Shirou and Saber not having a resolution to their relationship so she quickly reforms her contract with the servant. The three of them proceed to live in a relationship limbo, a kind of slice of life arrangement.

If you want domestic Shirou check out "Today's Menu for the Emiya Family" later. It's basically if the entire cast of UBW just hung out and did slice of life shenanigans.

I think having better subs is a must for Heaven's Feel, there's a lot to take in. If splitting is more comfortable for you then that's great but I don't think there's a point in the movies where you could split them and not lose in on the tension, so I do recommend to make the effort to watch them without splitting them, even if it takes a bit more time to release them.

pylonsf4

Crunchyroll's subtitles are more than fine. I'd just watch it there

Dank Waifu

Clarcksons farm is a great show, also can i ask if you will be watching Fate: Strange Fake after Heaven's Feel? its so good, best animation out of all of the Fate series and an easy watch, its like film quality, every episode.

Meteor

Go for better subtitles.

BananaPengu1n

First movies I'm going to watch on your channel but it doesn't sound like your schedule is the problem so imo it would be better to watch the full movie in one go for suspense reasons. Could move to a bi-weekly release schedule for it.

Joshua Moore

Wow yall sniped waver so fast

The Anime Dude

Always cool to see Waver again! 13:19 from the outside looking in, it seems like Japan usually looks at things in eras/periods if that counts. Heian, Meiji, Edo, Showa, etc… just different period of history known for a specific thing. Right now they’re in the Reiwa era. At least when I see historical references, that’s usually how they classify them rather than the specific century, decade, or millennia.

Jonno

3:18 There is a funny scen from one of the Spinoffs where Shirou gets in trouble with the homunculus maid Sella (this is an alternate world where kiritsugu and the einzberns are all living happily together and adopt shirou) for making too much food and causing her to gain weight

Cinshadis

10:01 - There IS a show! El-Melloi Case Files (Rail Zeppelin) is all about adult Waver teaching there, and solving magical mysteries. It’s also a great lead-up to Fate/Strange Fake, which is also excellent and has characters from Case Files. Nasuverse - the more of it you watch, the better the next one gets.

Runhua Tang

I'm Chinese and it's more common for us to think of history in dynasties. Although we still often divide periods by the decades when talking about contemporary history.

ReCursed

If you want a show about that exact scool you can watch lord el melloi II case files - a lot of familiar characters there. It's fate but defective mystery - you would love it. (After fate stay night heaven's feel of course)

Charles Murphy

After Heavens Feel if you want a change of pace you might like Carnival Phantasm (not grand version) if you can find it. It is a silly alternative version of this fate series

ByakkoByakuya

Luviagelita Edelfelt, who made a cameo in this episode, is actually one of Rin's distant cousins! This isn't really a spoiler since there's no official story covering it in detail, but during the Third Holy Grail War in the 1930s, a pair of Edelfelt twin sisters summoned twin Saber-class Servants. After the war, one of the twins returned to Finland and established the main Edelfelt branch, while the other was taken in by the Tohsaka family and eventually married into the bloodline. Her addition to the family is why the Tohsakas practice Gem Magecraft! It's also part of the reason Luvia goes out of her way to annoy Rin: a petty, generations-old family feud, further fueled with the fact that the Tohsakas are essentially using Edelfelt family magecraft. In any other, happier timeline, Tokiomi would probably have sent Sakura to Finland instead of handing her over to that weird old man with the worm dungeon. Unfortunately, Sakura's childhood happiness was never really on the Emiya menu.

Jonno

I think the closest you will get to see a series on the Clock Tower is Lord Ell Meloi II Case Files which has Waver as the main character as a teacher in the Clock Tower

Raydough

I'd rather you guys watch the movies in one go and release one every 2 weeks than half a movie every week

Raydough

best animation is crazy tbh. i dont think it even beats UBW let alone heaven's feel

ReCursed

Rin is not rich - kirei spent her fortune on wine

Dank Waifu

as an artist and animator, its a hard disagree but its your opinion.

Super Gamer Q

I just realize all my favorite anime characters all have some type of copy abilities: Chrollo (HXH) Yuta (JJK) Shirou (UBW) Monoma (MHA) Yuu (Charlotte)

NECOdes

Yeah Heaven's Feel follows the same story until some point then branches into a new thing. It tackles a different side of the Fate/stay Night story, Sakura, and another take on "Shirou's idealogy".

ReCursed

Idk if splitting movies is best idea but what's best for you, I'm just concerned about the place where you will be splitting. But still can't wait for your reaction for movies

Tim Tim

That man with long hair was indeed Waver! He really did man up, being with Iscandar influenced him alot lol. And you're right Westley, because it was a game with your own adventure where you could choose from different options, t's basically the same characters and starting point, we go back to the start and see Shirou and other characters doing other decisions, "What IF", but every of these storylines is canon. So Stay Night, SN:UBW, and SN: Heavens feel are three different lines. This is considered "Main fate story line". I haven't watched that much of other Fate series and can't really help with that, so it would be cool to watch it with you guys, if you'd choose to watch Fate further of course

ReCursed

Saber can't dematerialise - it was mentioned both in zero and stay night first episodes

Elías

If you want to know what Waver has been up to, there is a series titled "The Case Files of Lord El-Melloi II". The anime hasn't adapted the whole light novel series but it's a good watch and it tells you a lot of the magic world of Fate that the main series doesn't tell you. Also, there is a sequel to that series titled "The Adventures of Lord El-Melloi II" (there isn't an adaptation of it) which is set after the 5th grail war and is loosely set on the Unlimited Blade Works route, where Rin and Shirou get to have adventures with Waver.

Aidos Smagulov

If possible, Fate/Strange Fake after Heaven’s Feel would be great! It has a good plot, amazing animation, and one of the best incarnations of Gilgamesh :)

Vedhon

you caught waver nicely I didnt recognize him when i watched it first time around. though you dont have to worry about this routes shirou. Nasu(the author) said none of the shirous we see in the visual novel end up with archers fate. Others said it but if you are interested in clock tower stuff and waver he does have his own show with case files. the sunny days is like a variation of the ubw ending where if you manage to rizz up saber alongside Rin we get this, in fandom its kinda joked to be a polycule or Rins harem.

Kristian Raiden

I love Heaven's Feel, it's my favourite in the Fate series, so I'm hoping you guys enjoy it too. And the discussion about Shirou at the end of this video makes me even more interested to see what you guys think about Heaven's Feel. Also, Wes is pretty much right about the Choose Your Own Adventure thing - the original visual novel was split into three different routes, unfortunately there isn't a proper anime adaptation of the first route, only one from 2006 which I haven't seen but I heard did a pretty terrible job, and if I'm not mistaken it took elements from all three routes or something like that... UBW is the second route, and Heaven's Feel is the third - it's important to remember as well, they are all canon, though very different from each other.

d34ddud3

Wes was right about Heaven's Feel. Think of it like an alternate timeline of UBW. The original 2006 Stay Night is yet another alternate timeline. Although I say, "alternate," there is no specifically cannon version. They're all cannon. Schrodinger's Cannon if you will. Though just because Fate/Zero was part of this timeline does not mean everything that went down there is the same in other timelines. For Stay Night 2006 some things that happened in Zero might have happened differently. If anything in any Stay Night timeline contradicts something that happened in Zero you can assume things happened differently in that timeline. I don't recall any big differences myself, but my memory sucks so there could be a big difference between one timeline's events during Fate/Zero and another's. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but if I recall correctly the point where all these versions branch off of is how Shirou handles the situation when Saber first fights Archer. In this version he told her to stop and accidentally used a command spell and in others he does different things. (Post edited based on discussion below.)

Marcos cruz

TBH I don't see where is a good part for the movies to be cut off at a halfway point, my suggestion is if they are too long for your schedule, maybe don't make the release a weekly thing, take two weeks or whatever works for you guys So just to clear thing up a little bit, Shirou of this story won't become Archer/Guardian, he will probably still dedicate part of his life to saving people, but he wont make the contract with the world, his time with Rin is what made the outcome change, Fate Stay Night has several endings, Unlimited Blade Works route specifically has 2 endings, one is called the True Ending and the other Good Ending, this two episodes depict each one. Lastly Saber does find an answer to her own dilemmas, and it is thanks to Shirou, we won't see this since this is presented in the FATE route, where the story follows Saber and Shirou story instead of Unlimited Blade Works that follows Rin and Shirou story

Fabien

"Zero belongs to the UBW timeline" No ??? Where did you get that idea ? I hope they don't see your comment and get the wrong idea. Zero is the prequel to all Fate stay night routes. All 3 of them. There may be more inconsistencies with the 2006 series (maybe, I don't know) but only because that anime was a weird mix that was inconsistent with itself anyway. It doesn't faithfully represents the first route.

CD Elio

46:05 ohh Wes reading Shirou like a book haha. The importance of the UBW ending altho open to interpretation is Shirou having Rin guiding him not to be much more cynical. Now u witness the UBW route now we go onto the Heaven's feel, also I feel like there is a halfway point to cut off in the movies so I feel like u'll do 2 weeks per movie I guess I don't mind it. Also since u like domestic Shirou there is a fate series dedicated to that hehe

Ein Diskent

"I wish this was canon" Everything in fate is canon. No explanation, just don't think about it.

Fabien

Cutting the movies in 2 wouldn't be a wise choice. If you really can't do one per week, just do one movie in 2 weeks. Just try to keep in mind what happens, as 2 weeks gaps can make people forget stuff.

sperrfeuer

as much as possible, I think it would be preferable for you guys to watch each of the movies in one sitting; other commenters have mentioned switching to a biweekly schedule if it can afford you guys more time to find a suitable schedule to film your reactions for the movies. another idea is that, if Heaven's Feel is the last series for Fate-related reactions, is to not stick to a strict schedule and just film whenever you guys can. there shouldn't be too much pressure since it's only 3 movies, though I feel others wouldn't be onboard with this plan lol

Fabien

Yes all canon, and normally made to be strictly done in order: the Fate route, then UBW, then HF. It was an obligation in the vn, and it was very important narratively.

Zen

Better subs is a must for Fate. Crunchyroll's subs are notoriously inconsistent. I'd trust fan-subs 100 out of 100 than CR's.

Vedhon

fate/zero was inconsistent for a lot of things actually and nasu said its an alternate timeline with similar circumstances so its not part of any of the fsn timelines more of a reference

ByakkoByakuya

I'd really want them to at least pick up Fate/Strange Fake afterwards, since it directly connects after the 5th HGW.

Fabien

Shirou is the only guy in history that gained like 5 or 10cm between 17 and 19yo.

d34ddud3

https://typemoon.fandom.com/wiki/Fate/Zero Check the first paragraph. It says outright that some information differs from the original VN. The Fate/Zero animation we see is consistent with everything from UBW, but not from the original Stay Night. The overall events of Zero surely happen in the other timelines, but the details aren't always consistent. I'm just saying if some information in another Stay Night timeline contradicts what we saw in Zero, then it's probably just that things happened differently during that timeline's version of Zero. This is all based on a vague old memory of watching Stay Night 2006 and going, "wait, that isn't what happened or what they said," a couple times along with said wiki article. If the article is wrong argue with them about it.

Kronosok

Other people already mentioned it, but I wanted to do it too. If you want to continue watching Fate series after the movies, I would really recommend watching Lord Ell Meloi II Case Files. It focuses on a character you are already familiar with, and also introduces some that will appear in other Fate titles. It's like a nice focal point for viewing after the main Fate shows because it focuses a lot on the lore and power system. It's also relatively short. (After that, I would recommend Fate/Strange Fake, but of course, if you want to continue to watch, the order depends on the viewers' wishes). Also, some trivia: Gilgamesh can actually see the future, but he was too arrogant to use it; that's another reason he lost.

Devastating_Warrior

I'm so excited for Heaven's Feel, definitely my favorite out of the whole Stay Night/Zero collection. Also, as people mention, Lord El Melloi Files is a quite good one if you wanna watch a story following the Clock Tower and (of course, you got it) Waver.

C

So to clarify the ending. It is a happy ending, don’t worry. The author, Kinoko Nasu, have said that the Shirou of this route will not end like Archer since he have Rin. Explaining the last scene. In the Visual Novel the end is in that scene of Shirou and Rin in the classroom. But for the anime the author made and extended ending in the form of the Clock Tower episode. He gave a script and… Ufotable changed everything for some reason. So that’s why that last scene in the desert is kind of confusing for some people. So the actual idea of the last scene was to show Shirou walking through the desert and reaching the end of the foorprints that Archer left behind at the end of his journey. Then going beyond them and continue walking. That to show that his journey will not end like that of Archer. But yeah, the director of the anime removed that for some reason. The guy at the Clock Tower was indeed Waver Velvet. As for a series about mages in the Clock Tower that Wes wants, there is in fact one. So you would watch it later on. Also, the Holy Grial War is indeed a small thing in the far east. One would think that such a world ending threat would be massive news. But the thing is that world ending threats are a daily thing in this fictional universe. Think about it, why are Guardians and Heroic Spirits necessary? It’s because every single day there are things around the world that could destroy humanity. And yeah, Heaven’s Feel is another route. But that doesn’t mean is stand alone. You need to watch UBW in order to understand Heaven’s Feel (that’s why you guys should watch Fate/stay night 2006 that’s adapts the first route after HF so you can experience Fate/stay night as a whole 😌).

eXxCeZz

Man im excited for Heaven's feel, even if you guys gonna chop it up

ReCursed

Yes. You are right, sorry. App version glitching

C

It did a decent job to adapt Fate route even with the 4 episodes that are a mix of UBW and HF. People just don’t like it because they think the animation is the worst thing they have watched, in reality it’s okay.

ReCursed

Today's menu of emiya would be good one too

2026-10-23 14:00 Naw I think everyone emphasizes the 70s/80s/90s/early 2000s, it's not just in the US, recent history is usually more in people's mind. The difference I think, from what I know of US culture, is that in Europe people just talk more about older history (in my very personal experience). But I don't think we talk less about the 90s and the rest. I think China or Japan "probably" are like Europe. Contrary to a popular belief born from chinese traditional historiography, written history in China isn't older than let's say in Greece (Mycenaean Greece at least, and there's also the Minoans that are even older). But yeah part of the middle east is where you can find what remains of the oldest civilizations. If you look up the chronology of ancient Mesopotamia one day, you'll see how mind-boggling it is that SO much stuff happened when nothing much happened anywhere else. Between 3300 BC and 1500 BC their world and their cultures had the time to rise and fall like 4 times. Legendary cities like Uruk had the time to disappear so dractically with time that nobody remembered where they were in the first place, even back then. Stuff happened in Egypt too, even if it wasn't as hectic as in mesopotamia politically I think. Sorry I always get like this when it's about history I just keep writing and writing.

ReCursed

I absolutely agree. The worst part is mixing routes. I would love them to watch it too, but if they won't i might just rewatch it myself

C

Yeah, Zero is not canon for any Fate/stay night. It is its own timeline with similar setting.

ReCursed

Why jump to it if there is a lot of other fate there? I know recency bias and hype but id rahter them watch it on of the last.

C

I think after Fate/stay night watching Kara no Kyoukai, Lord El-Melloi II, Fate/Prototype and then Fate/strange Fake would be a logical kind of linear narrative. So I agree!

ReCursed

Those movies where released with much bigger gaps when they were airing so i think they can handle it 🙂 but i agree that spliting would strange. It's already has scuffed paacing as it had to crump full season into three movies

ReCursed

I want all fate treated like one piece if you get my double meaning

Caleb Martin

If I remember correctly, EMIYA (the Shirou that becomes the Archer we see) becomes a guardian around the age of 28. He’s in a nuclear power plant that’s melting down, and to save everyone there, he is forced to make a deal with Alaya. After that, he goes on to save more people through various wars in the Middle East, until he is eventually set up as the mastermind behind one such war, and executed at the age of 38. Another kind of important note is that this Shirou will never become a guardian. The spirit origin of EMIYA is already recorded in the Throne of Heroes (where all the spirits chill out when not summoned), so Alaya has no need of this Shirou. Plus, EMYIA’s deal was to “become a hero that could create miracles” in exchange for his afterlife, and it is this deal that likely gave him the knowledge of how to materialize Unlimited Blade Works, which our Shirou already know how to do

Fabien

d34ddud3 -> What I'm saying is that Zero was never written with UBW specifically in mind. If anything, narratively it has more in common with Heaven's Feel. Yes Zero probably isn't totally consistent with Fate stay night as a whole (including UBW), you were half-right in that regard, and I was half-wrong. My main problem was when you suggested it was more compatible with UBW in particular. That part is misleading imho.

brde

I strongly recommend that you guys watch the movie all at once rather than in two parts. It’ll be better for both your viewing experience and the audience’s. You could just watch it all and release it every two weeks

C

Hello, since they finished UBW I wanted to discuss an idea to see what other subscribers think. That is to what they would watch after HF (in case they continue with the Fate series obviously). And again, I don’t want to scare anyone or something. As I said this comment is to collect opinions of other subscribers in the order I thought would make the most sense. If the person reading this is not interested just don’t mind me. So the order I thought about for the next stage of Fate is this one: 1. Fate/stay night 2006: this one is just so they could finish the stay night storyline. Also I think there is something important here that they would need later on. 2. Kara no Kyoukai: since it’s part of the same extended universe I think this one would help them understand better the setting and concepts. That should help later on. Specially with the next one. 3. Lord El-Melloi II Case Files: this one would serve to expand even more of the setting and worldbuilding. The reason why this is after Kara no Kyoukai is because both deal with an specific concept in universe, but in my opinion Kara no Kyoukai explain it better. 4. Fate/Prototype: this one is here to present characters for the last stop of this stage. 5. Fate/strange Fake: for last because all the previous series build so Fate/strange Fake could make the most sense. Since it have a lot of characters. So that’s the end of this "stage 2" for the franchise. Don’t worry, things like Apocrypha, Extra, Grand Order and Carnival would come later on. But that’s the basic idea. What do you guys think?

Infinite Winds

Their problem might just be finding time for such long single recording sessions rather than the added weekly strain, as has been the case in the past with movies, but if not this would be ideal

d34ddud3

I get that Zero wasn't written with UBW in mind, UBW was adapted way later. Though it seems to me that UBW did have some care taken to emphasize that events from Zero carried over, so it seems like UBW was made with Zero in mind while they were adapting it. (Y'know, especially since they copy/pasted a couple scenes directly over during some flashbacks.) Though I don't recall anything from UBW that was inconsistent with Zero. Maybe Sakura? Though since they didn't give her any attention in UBW I drew the conclusion that the grail just didn't choose her as a master or maybe she gave her command spells to Shinji (whether willingly, through persuasion, or coercion). I don't remember Heaven's Feel too much. It felt like there was a lot of reading between the lines they relied on that I was not in the headspace at the time to spend energy doing. I relate UBW to Zero directly because I can't think of any contradictions between the two. At most what I mentioned about Sakura above. Whereas Stay Night 2006 felt disjointed with Zero any time the two points in time tried to connect information together. I see your point, so I'll edit that part to not favor UBW's connection to Zero so much. Might just be that I'm still in the headspace for Fate that I was in before the Heaven's Feel animation was out. If Heaven's Feel didn't exist I'd be pretty firmly rooted in that the anime side depictions leave Zero belonging to UBW's timeline as opposed to Stay Night 2006. I suppose I'll see what you mean about the stronger correlation to Zero when I watch their reaction to it.

2026-10-23 14:00 Sunny Days happened if you farmed enough affection points with Saber, if I remember well. It's called the "good ending", but remember that the one in which Saber disappear is called the "true ending". So I always considered that canonically Saber disappeared UBW, just because of the name. But I guess the product of your choices in the game is always canon anyway.

Tom

If they do two eps a week than if there like 1hr 30min than it will be fine

Raydough

They could just prerecord some shows ahead (using the time they normally film fate) and free up some time next week

Big A

Definitely go for the better subs!

Charles Murphy

Also when you watched fate zero you mentioned that all of the soldiers in iskandar’s noble phantasm looked individual. If you watch it again you might notice that adult Waver is one of them

Chief Yoshi

Clarkson was so good in Top Gear.

RCG

Or maybe record half a movie each week and release both halves together in two week cycles. Watching half a movie sounds weird ^^

oliam43

Yeah, fun fact: the anime adapts the path where Shirou didn't fail. There are actually quite a lot of bad endings in the original visual novel.

Shiroufan11

I think either is fine, despite what people say there are decent enough cut off points within the movies. The visual novel route takes like 20 hours to read so I can say with confidence that you'll be fine if you stop half way through movie 1. (around the hour mark is a decent stopping point)

SRG

Grand Order should be watched before Strange Fake since it gives context to major characters which from what I hear becomes even more important later on. Apocrypha should be watched before Grand Order although it's less of a requirement.

Ethereal

That's interesting for a would-be Fate/Type-Moon super fan, but personally I would merely limit it to Fate/Strange Fake since they quite liked Fate/Zero which has a similar adult ensemble cast. For the others they should read a short description, genre tags, maybe check the cover and decide based on that if they want to continue their journey into the rest of the franchise.

Erik

Yeah I would have to agree with everyone that the movie is better to watched in full as there is moments where half of it would end in the middle of the most tense moments, and just leaving it like that would ruin the experience for you guys a bit. But it is hard to sit through a long movie haha, but it was so worth it Also I am not sure if anyone mentioned, but it is said that Shirou dies quite young every time...so his archer story makes it even sadder, since he dies so young and becomes the hero he wanted, its like hes not even allowed to grow up old, so the creator has a whole different version of shirou (that i will not name cause maybe spoilers haha) but the author has made a potentially old shirou of how he would look like if he did manage to grow older And you are so right about saber feeling sad and lonely, the fate route just destroyed me knowing how saber really feels.

Cong Hui

Yes, Fate/Stay Night is a choose-your-adventure game. It comes complete with over 40 bad endings of which Shirou dies in 37. There are three main routes, Fate, UBW, and Heaven's Feel. Sunny Days is the good ending to UBW where you gained enough relationship points with both Rin and Saber, while the other "true" ending is when you don't have enough with Saber. If you like domestic Shirou, you must watch Today's Menu at Emiya's after Heaven's Feel. It should really only take you like 2 sessions at most since the episodes are so short. If you want more about that guy Shirou met in the hall, consider Case Files of Lord El Melloi II after above. Unrelated to Fate, if you haven't already, consider Madoka Magica for a version of something you discussed in this video (vagueposting).

If you want more Clock Tower I would recommend "The Case Files of Lord El-Melloi II" which has Waver Velvet as the protagonist where we see what happens to him after Fate/Zero. It's a detective show that explores the magic systems in the Nasuverse and puts into perspective why they would call the holy grail war a "minor ritual in the far east".

I was sad about the ending, mainly because it feels like Shirou is dragging Tohsaka down, rather than Rin lifting Shirou up. (It feels like Shirou would become a Guardian for sure... Hence, he would suffer the same endless fate as Archer). If anyone has context without spoilers, please comment. 😊 Watching the OVA felt good tho.

sasha

Waver does have his own show with Lord El Melloy II Cases files Also Clocktower doesn't work for Shirou because it is a purely political and magus place which only value those 2 specific things so it would not be a place that would let Shirou do his savings lifes

I think most people prefer hard subs but the closed caption subs on reanime look fine imo

A few fun facts around UBW, Shirou, Rin, and Shirou x Rin. - Post UBW, even if this Shirou follows the exact same path as Archer, the fact that he has Rin as his support system means it’s almost impossible for him to become Archer. It’s a non-zero chance like an asymptote, always approaching 0% probability of becoming Archer without actually touching 0%. - In a sequel to Stay Night we get a glimpse of what mature adult Rin is like in a timeline where she and Shirou get together. Turns out she’s a fawning ooey gooey mush. She would do *anything* for Shirou, and lets him go off and do his thing, with no questions asked before or after he returns. A tsundere without the ‘tsun’. When present day Rin learns this she’s completely mortified, but can’t outright deny that she feels exactly the same way deep down. - You get the Good ending if you earn enough affection points with Saber. The in-story implication is that Rin extends the contract because she recognizes how much Saber means to you. Depending on your interpretation, in this ending Saber joins Rin and Shirou as a dutiful older sister type… or as the third in their polyamorous throuple.

I think it’s fine if you watch the movies in multiple sittings, but tbh it would bug me if that was the release schedule. I’d be happy to wait for two weeks for a full movie.

The animation in Strange Fake is honestly pretty cheap-looking — nowhere near the level of UBW.

Sergey (Horn)

Apocrypha seemed like a decent anime to me, but also a disappointing one. And it was disappointing precisely because it was only “decent,” unlike the excellent UBW and Zero. It also does surprisingly little with its characters. There are a lot of them, but over the course of the entire story we barely get to know most of them. In that context, I really can’t recommend it. The Case Files of Lord El-Melloi II, on the other hand, is good. Grand Order felt like a very strange direction to me, almost as if the series suddenly jumped from fantasy into sci-fi. The main characters — at least in the first few episodes — didn’t grab me at all. I dropped it, despite the amazing Ishtar-Rin.

Sergey (Horn)

Both endings felt a little strange to me. Rin and Shirou are clearly close to each other and obviously have feelings for one another — especially Rin — but the way they express those feelings is oddly restrained. I was expecting at least a kiss. Without that, their relationship leaves me with this very strange feeling, almost as if something about it is slightly off. Maybe that was intentional on the authors' part? It reminded me a little of a couple who have broken up but still continue living together — although Rin and Shirou are obviously much closer than that comparison suggests. Either way, the whole thing gives me a very unusual impression. I watched it a long time ago, so I'd actually forgotten how strange the endings felt to me. And I suspect they would have felt even stranger if I had played the game first and then watched the anime, considering the more ecchi nature of the original game. I haven't played the game myself, though.

Dank Waifu

we can agree to disagree.

Andy Campbell

I believe the wrestling outfit your thinking of is a singlet.

Shiroufan11

Yeah, it's an issue with a lot of the routes in Tsukihime/fate where the characters getting together also ends up being the sex scene. When they then censor it later on it leaves the relationship feeling unresolved. Ciel's route in the Tsukihime remake has the exact same issue

Prime

I'm not sure if anyone has recommended it yet, but I recommend watching at least the first Garden of Sinners movie before watching the Heaven's Feel Trilogy. It's only about 50 minutes long.

CT

i would like to join with the others in recommending 'The Case Files of Lord El-Melloi II' if you liked Waver, or just missed seeing him (I was haha) and want to see what he's like now, and what he's been up to...

I don't really care about the upload schedule, but splitting a movie just feels very wrong to me. I mean, there's a reason a movie is a movie and not a TV series. + A bit off-topic, but there's one more thing I'd like to suggest: I hope you'll consider not treating anime openings and endings as something to avoid until you've finished the series, and giving them a chance at least once or twice while watching. It's true that they can sometimes reveal too much about what's to come, but the studios include them for a reason — they're meant to be watched and listened to, after all. These days, especially, there's a lot of creative direction that goes into them: where the OP and ED are placed, special ending themes used only for certain episodes, changes to the visuals as the story progresses, and even playing the second verse of a song instead of the usual first verse at key moments. There's no pressure at all, of course. I just hope you'll consider giving it a try.

Fabien

Yeah, and there are even openings like Madoka Magica's opening which are absolutely made to be seen from the start, it makes the experience better (and no spoil).

Quinn

WOAH WOAH WOAH You could say one is better than another but CHEAP LOOKING? Did I just read it right? I've never been this offended on behalf of the animators. I have so many things to say yet its not enough to describe how mad i am right now lol. Some people dont just deserve things.

monsters2312

10:52 Clarkson’s farm, top gear, and anime yeah I fit into that venn diagram lol

Kiyoshi Murayama-Nakama

I can't wait for Heaven's Feel! Also, if you are interested in seeing more Waver, he actually has his own spin-off show "The Case Files of Lord El-Melloi II" which also gives more info on what happened to him after Fate Zero.

La Plus

splitting movie in half is a terrible idea tbh

Cedric Worthy

please watch the full movies in one sitting even if you have to stretch out the release schedule. They are VERY dense and I feel it will lessen your experience if you try to film two halfs of any of the movies at different times.

Temojikato

The fact we never got another show about Rin and Shirou in school makes me sad and mad to this day

Nikolai Ilushko

If you like domestic Shirou why not watch "Today's Menu for the Emiya Family"

Nikolai Ilushko

I kinda wish you will watch Naruto in the future you will hear a very familiar voice there 😅 After watching fate I can't stop connecting them.

Nikolai Ilushko

Fate Carnival Phantasm is a must after heaven's feel.

able16

The official subtitles (BD, Blu-ray Disc release) is the one with the best subtitles, as concluded by many bi-lingual Japanese-English watchers. If there is any particular one to avoid -- don't watch the Netflix version. They pretty much just raw translated the JP dialogue and people have found it jarring (instead of 'noble phantasm', it's 'treasure'). If you guys want a BD copy to watch, I can upload them for you guys to download (Google Drive or Mega). All 3 movies will be around 20-22 GB.

Super Gamer Q

Shoutout to Fates for having over 100 comments each episode while some series barely get 20

Vedhon

the reason you are confused is cause zero cut out a lot of stuff, in the visual novel we have a scene where in the basement zouken talks with sakura and asks her whether she wants to stay in the grail war or transfer Rider to shinji. as for inconsistencies i suppose the most obvious one is saber and kirei. Kirei considering his whole thing with gilgamesh wouldnt happen or at least not in this way since we are explicitly stated he was always aware of who he was and everything done previously was to try and fight his nature

OG_Oskar Gal

About the canon part, every ending in fate is canon, think of it like a story video game, when you reach a certain ending of it, it is usually canon and then you go for another ending which is also canon. It is just all seperate "universes"

beepboop

The episodes are only ~10 minutes too which I imagine would be a plus lol.

TheEnd187

I feel like they should have started with Studio Deen a lot of people hate on it more than Tsukihime.

TheEnd187

They should do Tsukihime before Carnival Phantasm

Shiroufan11

Something to keep in mind, remember when Shirou used his first command seal in UBW. If you remember that it should make Heaven's feel easier to follow early on.

NECOdes

Which part? I've said it broad enough to make sure it's not spoiler. It's way less worse than the fact that people are already spoiled (from F/Zero) a lot of Stay Night important and specific twists like Sakura being Rins's sister, Illya being Shirou's sister and is older than him, Saber's true name, Saber's involvement in previous war, etc...

Vequoin

It is a good ending , these both are but heaven’s feel is a pretty heavy one. some scenes are hard to watch. For me Zero > UBW > HF > Fate but many people like HF more since it is quite intense. I feel none of the ending are actually good for everyone . Every one of them is canon and all of them have trade offs.

Starfruitcake

On a grand scale China generally identifies periods by which dynasty was in power or by the name of the period of separation (spring and autumn period, five dynasties and ten kingdoms period). Dynasties are typically a few hundred years old so I suppose you could say it's between centuries and millenia.

Vedhon

no fate update today?

ginta2109

My guess is that they’re switching to releasing the full movie every 2 weeks instead of releasing half a movie each week, so we’ll see the whole first movie next Thursday

brde

I guess that too,two week better than half movie.

Tpower

This was actually my first time watching Sunny Day within the now 5 times through the series, but yeah, basically it is the unlimited blade works good ending. And yeah Heaven’s Feel is essentially taking place on the same time period with different effects with a butterfly effect essentially with the big thing that changes it being Shirou’s main love interest in Sakura as opposed to Rin, this next one is where the Sakura stuff you guys kept mentioning is going to come up, and it is amazing, so excited to watch the movies and your reactions now that I am done with binging your reaction to UBW.
