Most normal humans don’t crave to do such depraved acts. It’s not just “stupid shit”, it’s a crime. If this aspect of him was taken seriously, then yeah, I’d agree that makes his writing better, but it’s treated as a joke. As if consent is a joke.

14:17 It's fun that you guys are paying attention to the japanese :) Oars said "kaizoku ou ni naru!" Which means "I will become the pirate king". The "ou ni" (king = "ou" + a particle that basically means "to", as in "to become") does sound like Oni, though it's only a coincidence. It's common japanese grammar, so I doubt it was wordplay involving Oni, but it's a totally understandable misconception. In fact, I also had the exact same thought before I looked it up.

Tbh im really enjoying this arc a lot on one pace. Def improved from the original pacing, even if their are some slightly badly made decisions with timing.

We're three posts into Thriller Bark, and stuff is already happening. I get the sentiment, but it's time to let this joke lie. It is entirely possible to spoil things by making the same joke repeatedly. I've seen it happen with other reactors and would hate to see that happen here.

I know that?? It’s still hard for me to separate oda’s pervy humor and sanji’s character. Also, saying “drop the show” when someone complains about something is so stupid. You guys complain about the pacing but you still haven’t “dropped the show”, have you? We’re allowed to like things and complain about the bad parts.

That’s definitely a fair thing to be bothered by. What about the whole crew (minus Zoro) peeping in Alabasta, though?

I hate hate HATE that too, however it’s easier for me to separate that joke from the rest of the crew’s character than sanji’s character. I’m not saying i hate all sanji fans or anything, there are parts i love about him as well, but overall i just can’t like him

I get that. The pervy jokes are always a net negative for a character for me. I think Sanji’s positives far outweigh that (kinda like with Brook’s panty gag), but I still don’t like it. I can’t even watch Mushoko Tensei because the mc is so gross to me. Not sure why it’s such a staple in manga/anime, especially since the target audience are kids…

Ugh even in One Pace i find thriller bark to be a really painful and boring watch. Definetly my least favorite arc in the show and one i would definetly skip if it werent for perona^^

"Despite the difference in size, he still reflects the strong will of its former master." that translation is wrong and makes no sense in the context it's put in. What he actually says (in the manga since I don't speak japanese) is that the difference in size is causing luffys personality to be so strongly reflected in Oars. Big differences in shadow and zombie body causes them to be defiant (initially) which is why Sanjis too was defiant and Zoros zombie wasn't.

Not being happy about the pacing is totally diffrent than an author who find peeping jokes funny. So what you say if other crew peep it's fine you can undersand it is a joke but when Sanji does it is bad. You just proved that you hate Sanji and it is not about the peeping. By the way I like Sanji and find the "peeping joke" not funny at all.
