So do you agree that this was a worthy follow up to Spinal Tap? Agree with the prologue comments- Best in Show IS funnier but this is more endearing...

Have you seen "Eraserhead" or "Repo Man"? quirky enough

Possible others would be Chevy Chase's "Foul Play" from 1978, Woody Allen's Bananas from 1971 (if you can get past his "problems")

Absolutely it was worthy. I just found out that they are in the middle of production on Spinal Tap 2! Rob Reiner directing and the original cast is returning!

I know that I haven't. I do enjoy the Lynch films I've seen but I've never seen Eraserhead. As for Repo Man, the only Alex Cox film I've seen is Sid and Nancy. I loved it. I had a friend in film school who was obsessed with him. He kept telling me to watch Walker. Which from what I understand kinda ruined his career.

I'm going to be singing these songs for at least the next week. That happens every time I rewatch this. The instrument that Catherine O'Hara plays is the autoharp. Jennifer Coolidge's version of humming is everything. LOL Since you guys really enjoyed these, I would highly suggest you watch Drop Dead Gorgeous at some point in the future. I think you'd like it. It's the same mockumentary style comedy and it's kind of hysterical.

Eraserhead actually may be difficult to react to given the minimal dialogue...Repo Man is a great parody of then contemporary life.

The Brother from Another Planet is also interesting. A 1984 John Sayles film after he wrote The Lady in Red and The Howling which gave him liberty to do such a film

You may want to check out The Big Picture. Not a mockumentary but it’s a good Christopher Guest directed movie about the film industry. Very funny.

Another possible hard reaction- at least for the YT version. The main character is mute and he elicits reactions from the people around him through his empathy...so no dialogue from one end and lost of dialogue on the other...thats what makes it very interesting

It's made my week, watching your Christopher Guest reactions, and I was so glad to see A Mighty Wind included! It's my personal favourite, but I feel like it often gets forgotten. If you're taking additions to the future consideration list, I happened to recently watch Deadloch (an eight-episode TV show of the critically acclaimed comedic variety) and was thinking about how much it reminded me of a Guest movie in terms of both its subtly absurd sensibility and its scope of looking at an unusual community trying to put on an event (except also with a mystery).

We're both really glad that you've been here checking these out with us. It's really made our week too. Discovering these movies really have made us appreciate Eugene Levy and Schitt's Creek even more. Never heard of Deadloch but we will add it to the considerations list!
