Rhonda, Diana, Jake, and Trent: "I'm a naughty bitch!"

I love this episode! I also really like the actor who plays the main waiter guy in the Bad Place--I've also seen him do Improv Shakespeare in SF a few times. Definitely talented!

Shawn = Marc Evan Jackson. There are so many quick-as-a-flash bits in this wonderful episode. You caught the Axe-Transformers payoff -- bravo! (I confess I missed it on first viewing.) You also accurately foretold Chekhov's Molotov Cocktail: that's expert joke-building throughout the episode, including Jason's puzzlement at his pocket square. Another throwaway line that amuses me inordinately comes when Janet first gives Jason/Jake an attaché case and he talks the way he thinks Fancy Businessmen talk: "Take my credit card to the hedge fund! I'll meet you at the martini store!" I don't know if you saw the whole poster in the train station, but just in case: "Pirates of the Caribbean 6: The Haunted Crow’s Nest or Something, Who Gives a Crap? (Now playing everywhere, forever)"

Shawn is played by Marc Evan Jackson. He's popped up a lot on Mike Schur tv shows (this, Brooklyn 99, Parks & Rec) and notable movies would be the Jumanji remake and Kong: Skull Island. But the thing I knew him for even before this was the comedy show/podcast "Thrilling Adventure Hour", where he played Sparks Nevada: Marshal on Mars. (Think a sci-fi take on the Lone Ranger, done in that old school "radio play" way. Just very silly.) Worth a listen, if you enjoy comedy podcasts!

One of my favorite episodes of the series. I love how noir-ish it looks, especially with the humans' costumes (and Eleanor's 40s hairdo!). And once again, Ted Danson absolutely kills it at the end in his most emotional scene so far. And while we may know he'll get out of this somehow, *he* doesn't know that and Eleanor doesn't, and Danson and Bell really sell the uncertainty of whatever's about to happen. We don't see the nitty gritty of the Bad Place (no lakes of fire or people getting their eyes pulled out) but I never expected to, with this being a network show with a finite budget (not to mention Standards and Practices). But I like that Bad Place HQ is just a basic bureaucratic setting (which is hell for a lot of people, I'm sure) and that we get plenty of examples in the dialogue of the various kinds of tortures and hellish "departments," as well as truly weird details like mirrors in the toilets. Mark Evan Jackson (who plays Shawn) is so great, and he's a Mike Shur regular, having also been on Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Parks & Rec. He also hosted The Good Place: The Podcast

Jason's Fancy Business Talk is priceless! And I love how Janet immediately takes the briefcase from him, like "nope, nipping that in the bud right now."

The Pirates 6 poster really killed me lmao. Great joke set ups in this episode. Am I wrong in thinking this is the funniest of the season?

I love how comical the bad place seems. Like the food they were serving and you're right, the mirrors in the toilets. It's little details like that. Micheal has really sent us on an emotional roller coaster. Never expect to see violence on this show, however the trolly episode was surprising graphic lmao

I don't know that there can be any "right" or "wrong" about it, but I certainly agree with you -- it's one of my favorite of all episodes (they're all good, but some I can rewatch endlessly and this is one of those). It's an episode with a brand-new premise and location, so that gives them a lot of new sources of humor while still getting comedy out of the established characters. It's just stuffed full of good ideas, and they all pay off.

If anyone ever gets a chance to watch an Improv Shakespeare show, I highly recommend it. It’s always insanely funny. They improvise an entire play based on audience suggestion and they try to keep to Shakespearean themes AND in iambic pentameter.

Jamie Morgan

I love how hard you laughed at the 'nug' line, and then nearly asphyxiated at "I'm a naughty bitch" XD I can't believe it's taken me until watching this to realise that Chet was played by Kristen Bell's husband!

Ya know, for being a demon Shawn rocks. Yes! I've always loved Dax Shepard, he doesn't have very many hits but I always enjoy him on screen.

I can't wait for you guys to get to the next episode.
