Reduced to 5 bucks?! I'm in!

This was Duncan Jones' first feature project. Next up for him is Rogue Trooper which is so exciting for me as I grew up on the British sci-fi comic 2000AD which was Rogue's birthplace. He's one of the new secret elite GI soldiers (geddit?), a Genetic Infantryman, who doesn't need to wear a full NBC suit like everyone else does. The GIs' surprise introduction will be a real gamechanger in the long-running war between the Norts and the Southers. Until it all goes horribly wrong, because of course it does....

It’s been so long since I saw Moon, that I’d forgotten most of the plot details. So I was right there with Kevin on the total distrust of Gerty. Sorry, Gerty, for doubting you… Again.

Inventive, solid movie and it shows how good even a small-ish budget can look when the people involved have a passion for the project. I know some models are coming back into SFX such as in Mandalorian. I hope that trend continues and we get a genuine blend of digital and model fx. Should catch Prospect (2018) as another low budget creative solid SF.

Likewise, it's been an age since I saw Moon, and I forgot what a great part of the movie Gerty was. Kevin Spacey is/was my second favorite ever actor (behind Gene Hackman), his recent....troubles.... certainly made Gerty more suspicious to me.

Gerty almost stole the movie. I like the comparison between him and Gene Hackman, if only things had turned out differently

I would love to check that out. I don't hate CGI. Obviously we aren't escaping it at this point. My favorite sc-fi films come from the 70's and 80's. It was just so much better then. The detail and craftsmanship bleeds through the screen.

Yep, (although Dredd didn't appear until Prog 2, and had his helmet off and on for the first few stories). Karl Urban famously kept faith (always helmeted) unlike Sylvester Stallone. There was a Mega-City One (Dredd's home town) TV show in the works, but that's probably on ice unless Rogue Trooper does gangbusters. There's many other fantastic characters / stories from 2000AD, Rebellion owns the rights I believe. Strontium Dog would be my pick, lots to work with.
