Alrighty... I'm writing this as I listen to the recap ;-) Joffrey's the worst, that's for sure! Even the actor Jack Gleason kept the stain of this role for the cruelness of his character's actions. Cersei's lover is her cousin (still family though) I don't know if you noticed, but EVERY scene with Tywin are majestic to watch. He's most probably one of the few that keep us on our toes IN EVERY SCENE he's in (there's another of his age coming later on that is to that level as well... won't spoil who though, no worries) Tyrion is almost there, so is Varys... Daenerys' arc is tough to watch, doing a mercy kill of her love... And you thought the Dothrakis were on their way to Westeros... Probable in any other show, but not in this one! Ros has found her way into King's Landing for sure! Already getting a customer in the Red Keep... Love how pretty much everyone in King's Landing is a double cross expert: Pycell "faking" his age, Little Finger, Cersei... Perhaps only Joffrey and Varys are keeping their story straight? Hahahaha... HEY! You just shown your hand here ;-) You know who Hot Pie is! It's true, you've seen some scenes from future season without knowing what's the link in the overall story, but remembering Hot Pie is quite interesting. You called it when Daenerys wished to be in the pyre because she couldn't burn. Good catch! I completely understand Jorah's reaction (and her Khalessar's, the ones that stayed) And her arc will be a rollercoaster, that's for sure! If you wish to do Double Watch, the first 2 episodes of each seasons would be my best choice. There's always a lot of exposition during episode 1s... Makes it better to join the 2nd episode right away. But please, don't do it on 9-10 for future seasons ;-)

You finally saw the Harry Potter actor Kevin mentioned would be in this show, but you're soon to see another actor from this show in Harry Potter :) Not sure if you picked up on this bit of the history, but when they call it the Seven Kingdoms, that's because it literally was once seven different independent kingdoms that the Targaryens conquered with their dragons about 300 years before the show starts. So the Starks were historically the Kings in the North (and the last to bend the knee to Aegon the Conqueror), giving Robb that title doesn't come out of nowhere. Lancel is a cousin (maybe 2nd cousin? don't remember for sure), not Cersei's brother. Doesn't make it less creepy. You kind of have to accept that good things are not going to happen to genuinely decent people like the Starks in this universe, and resort to rooting for the morally dubious but not "actively a malicious psychopath" characters like Ser Jorah, Bronn, the Hound, Jaime, etc. Khal Drogo was objectively a monster in the books too, but a bit less so, at least in how he treated Dany in the beginning. In the show the marriage night is just plain rape, in the books when she says no he actually listens and having that little bit of agency her brother never allowed her is enough for her to the say yes. But she's also 13 at that point in the book (all the child characters were made a few years older in the show) and he's still a full adult, so there's really no way for the whole situation not to feel extremely gross and we kind of just have to accept her falling for him. It was a slight disappointment as a book reader watching this when it came out that they didn't have the budget in this season to actually show much of the battles, though it works fine narratively to have them off-screen and I don't think most fans who hadn't read the books noticed. Let's just say they get a lot more budget in the coming seasons.

Lancel is Cersei's cousin... Kevan's son (Kevan is the one that's usually sitting with Tywin). Tywin is only acknowledging Tyrion because he thinks the Starks might execute Jaime.

By all accounts Jack Gleason, the actor who plays Joffrey, is just a nice dude in real life. He actually got a ton of harassment from idiots who couldn't separate him as an actor from the character and quit acting for good as far as I know after this role.

Youtalkingtome

I do like Ser Jorah quite a bit. Love Bronn. Very curious to see what they have planned with The Hound as well. He looked out for Sansa there. I can't wait to see what they have in store as far as battles go.

I don't remember Hot Pie, I was more just laughing at the name! They had it listed on the subtitles. Just going to do one episode a week for a while. Maybe on special occasions we can double up but for now, we're gunna really digest this next season. It sucks that Jack Gleason hasn't been in anything after this. Joffrey is literally the worst but that just means the actor is absolutely crushing this role.

Youtalkingtome

That's ridiculous. People can't tell the difference between real life and make believe. He's an amazing actor and it really sucks that giving this amazing performance ended his career.

Maxxie

I've seen this written and repeated many times, but it's a myth. He did get some nasty comments from idiots, but he said himself that this is not the reason why he chose a different career path. Also, he recently got an acting role again. Maybe he just wanted to see what else is out there.

Maxxie

I think he does notice and acknowledge his intelligence in this episode. Tywin despises Tyrion for his happy-go-lucky façade and hates him for a specific reason which will become clear some time in the future, but more than anything he is a clever and pragmatic man, and if he sees a use for Tyrion, he will use him, no matter his personal feelings.

Roland Cooke

The good news is that Jack Gleason is back acting after hi understandable extended break. He's brilliant (and almost unrecognizable) in the recent The Land Of Saints And Sinners, which I really enjoyed, Liam Neeson back to doing real acting as well.

Madison Dickson

So just to clear up something the scene with Pycell and Roz when he goes to do all his stretches he’s able to move around well and as soon as the door opens he puts on the hunch back. It’s the first time you see that Pycell is much more with it than he lets on to others. Hopefully in the pursuit of seeming less as a threat is hopefully overlooked.

Michael Bennett

It's almost like Sansa was listening when you said "kill him now", heh. I think that scene was a new low in terms of how evil a character can be, we all WANTED her to push him so much. Commander Mormont is such a freaking badass, you can see where Jorah gets it from.

Youtalkingtome

The most evil character I've seen in a long time. Mormont rocks. Just a cool old dude. Jorah gives James Bond vibes so hard.
