Too bad Pete Campbell spoiled the ending

This was my first time watching this. Just hadn’t gotten around to it. This isn’t the last Wayne/Ford movie. That would be Donovan’s Reef also with Lee Marvin that also was a bit progressive, as well. The John Ford section of How the West Was Won was shot after this as well. Looking through the list you have probably seen more John Wayne westerns than I have. I have watched way more John Wayne war movies. Wayne and Ford I always put into the category of men of their time, not excusing things they did, but not focusing on them either. It’s unfortunate they got more political at the end of their lives that made their problematic nature even more obvious. I can watch a movie like The Green Berets knowing that it is pro war propaganda and still enjoying it because I know that it’s only showing a narrow view in a larger story, and watching a story from that perspective helps you to understand people with that viewpoint even while you disagree with it.

In season 2 he spoils the plot for peggy and then apologizes. Great movie. Glad you watched this.

Kevin here. SUPER glad I don't remember what he said. I just remember him saying "Oh, I spoiled it," and Peggy said "That's okay, now I don't have to see it." Fortunately it was way back in an early season.

You're both wrong. Greatest western is Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. :) I always enjoy this movie even if it does have John Wayne in it (the guy that helped destroy a lot of lives)...because it has the saving grace of also having Jimmy Stewart in it,

I totally agree with that sentiment. It's important to watch anything so you can form your own opinion. Especially if it's something you disagree with. I would love to watch some of Ford's other westerns that he didn't do with Wayne. Particularly My Darling Clementine.
