The Inedible Mattman!

haha I remember when first watching this show, at this point I thought "OMG Cersei is the absolute worst". I hated watching scenes with her in it, but at least at this point in time those scenes usually involved Tyrion and he's kinda the best. lol SOOOO much setup in this episode for things. You really get to know Littlefinger in this episode and who he is at his core, we expand the myths of the world by introducing more talk about the "Lord of Light", and damn then we see a baby handed off to the White Walkers!! Huge twists! Oh, and Sam is the nicest human being who ever lived. We stan Sam.

As someone rewatching with you, I was ALSO surprised by just how psychosexual this particular episode was! Sometimes the plots line up that way, I guess??? - I’d forgotten about the scene with Baelish/Little Finger and Ros. We spend so much time with him in rooms with Lannisters, Varys, etc. where people have power over him — it’s nice that we get these moments to show us who he really is, when HE has the power. - Theon Greyjoy, just . . . serving cringe at times. He JUST had his (kinda gross) way with the lady on the ship, and he’s already getting THIS WEIRD with a strange woman on horse. You know what? I’m GLAD it was his sister. FEEL AWKWARD ABOUT IT, you petty, confused little jerk.

Cringe is the perfect way to describe him. Like I don't hate him, he's just not that guy. I honestly think that for as awkward as it is watching it with you all, the Baelish/Little Finger/Ros scene was masterfully done. That is such an interesting dynamic and how Little Finger holds power by information by catching people, quite literally with their pants down.

Sam is the man. Yes, so we know that the White Walkers are somewhat sentient. The Lord of Light is also a crazy dynamic.. This is not where I thought this show was headed. I'm completely on board.

This episode really advances the SENSE of the show, so much politicking and competing agendas. The religious (the Red Woman and the Onion Knight's son), the heritage (Pyke), and Joffrey / Cersei doubling down on family before all. I like the sexposition, because it provides the adult message beyond all the baby-killing. It's also done WELL. But it must make preparing the YouTube edits hard, because there's often really important developments during that stuff! :) There's no Game Of Thrones without ROME, HBO learned so many lessons from that show, highly recommended.

Dany's bloodrider Rakharo actor was cast in World War Z and the shooting schedules conflicted so they killed him off rather than recast. He was later the lead in the CBS series Scorpion... a terrible show. The actors that play Gendry and Gilly are both in the first two series (seasons) of a British show called Skins... a teen drama/dark comedy that is surprisingly amazing. Others in the cast included some now big names like... Nicholas Holt, Dev Patel, Daniel Kaluuya, and Kaya Scodelario. It is certainly something to put on your radar.

Get better soon! Summer head colds are terrible, but hey, it's almost over summer now.

I. Love. John. Bradley. His scenes with Gilly here are just so pure, when she tells him he's brave, you can see his heart grow three sizes. Sexposition was kinda HBO's thing during this era. In the rotation for the 9 pm Sunday timeslot was this show, True Blood, Boardwalk Empire, and Westworld.

Thank you SO MUCH for shouting out his energy and this portrayal.
