I'm happy to hear that you hated Umbridge more than Voldemort - same as anyone, really. Umbridge is one of the reasons I stopped re-reading the books. She's such a relatable, realistic evil that it turns my insides out just thinking about her. When I think about Harry Potter, I often put myself in Hermione's shoes (because I did as a child and it stuck) and I always wonder how Hermione managed to not do anything truly dreadful to Umbridge. I don't know if I would have been able to stop myself. On a more positive note, though, here is a music video about Umbridge that you simply must watch - it is fun, it has all the right references and it will fill you with righteous rage. Besides, the musician is terrific and I recommend all her stuff. also, re: Sirius: welcome to the real world. This is where HP started getting less fairytale-y and more horror-y. it traumatised all of us who were actually close to Harry's age when we read the books. but it also taught us that the world is unfair and terrible things happen to innocent people, and yet we somehow live on. in a way, after books 4 and 5, we all started seeing the Thestrals, even though most of us hadn't noticed a real-life death (yet). it's equal parts tragic and educational. J.K. did well on some fronts (before she decided to step outside of her purview...)
