I'm old enough to have used Lotus 1-2-3...

Romancing The Stone is a gorram classic, not really related to Indiana Jones (but definitely an audience overlap). Two huge stars (Kathleen Turner and Michael Douglas) at the very top of their game.

I'm an Excel guy myself ;) One thing you didn't mention that I believe is the crux of why Philip is changing...he's still going to EST. No Stan, no Elizabeth, just Philip going to EST to make Philip a better person. I think the reason they showed that one EST scene in this episode was to remind us that that is a big part of Philip's life now. Originally airing on April 4, 2017, 'Lotus 1-2-3' is Episode 5 of Season 5 of The Americans. It is the 57th episode overall and has an IMDB rating of 8.1, placing it as the #2 ranked episode of this season and #28 out of all the episodes shown so far.

I don't think EST has much to do with Philip starting to crack....that started a long, long time before (the cess pit guy that died of exposure, for example) and there's a reason Gabriel already took them off mission for seven months. EST is an accelerant maybe, or it could just be another symptom.

I think it's definitely playing a part in it. He did start to crack before but he's about to burst at this point.
