Great reaction! It’s been fun to rewatch this series with a new fan in the making 🙂. I’ve been ruminating on the Danny/Karen situation. While I agree Karen made a HUGE mistake with Danny, I’m not sure that a decade of Danny drunkenly stalking her since then is deserved. Should poor choices that can’t be taken back be “punished” forever? At the end of the day, they were two consenting adults, so even though their encounter felt icky to me too, it wasn’t illegal. I interpreted Karen’s check-in about the song at the reception as gauging the temperature of the stalking now that’s he’s clean and sober and married. Based on Danny’s not-appropriate reaction to her inquiry, she wasn’t wrong to be concerned that his unhealthy obsession is still simmering below the surface. Danny’s now almost thirty, married, sober, and STILL low-key stalking her. Karen bears the bulk of responsibility for the mistake of the original encounter, but Danny’s ongoing pining and stalking lands squarely on his shoulders IMHO. Let’s consider if the roles were reversed (think Crazy Ex-Girlfriend), if Rebecca slept with a friend’s dad (and I vaguely remember she did —Greg’s dad maybe?). IF Rebecca was still pining and stalking that dad almost ten years later, I think we’d long ago have let the dad off the hook for the unfortunate choices surrounding the original encounter, and turn our focus to Rebecca ‘s ongoing wrongdoing, and hoping she’ll get the professional help she needs to let it go and move on. 🤷🏼‍♀️
