I rewatched the BBC version with Romola Garai over the weekend. So much closer to the book.

I can't believe it took me until this rewatch to realize that Gemma Whelan, who plays Mrs. Weston, is the same person who plays Yara Greyjoy (Theon's sister) on Game of Thrones. I like this adaptation a lot, though I feel like the last fifteen minutes are a bit rushed compared to other versions. I really love the music in this as well. I agree that the relationship between Emma and Harriet is the most meaningful. Emma the novel is the quintessential novel about friendship, and for me it's always been about Emma learning to be a good friend. Including to Mr. Knightley, when she thinks he's about to tell her he loves Harriet. I love that she only gets her happy ending after she passes that test and invites him to tell her something it might be painful to hear. Definitely check out The Queen's Gambit. It's only seven episodes and ATJ is great in it.

This was the last movie I saw in theaters before COVID hit in 2020. Pretty charming with some great performances. (Miranda Hart broke MY heart in that picnic scene!) Another movie Bill Nighy is great in is About Time.
