Love and War and Snow

This episode is funny because there is apparently a snow apocalypse happening in Hartford while there's just a light pleasant snow in Stars Hollow. Emily Gilmore is acting it is The Day After Tomorrow before it even begins snowing where Lorelai is.

Lane should have pretended to slip in the snow. Running away just made it so so so so much worse. Now everyone knows exactly what happened and why it happened.

Richard and Emily are from a generation that would consider pizza exotic ethnic food. Around when they were born pizza had just come to Connecticut, and was still pretty limited to the New York Metropolitan area. And was mostly food associated with Italian immigrants, who absolutely would not be in their social circle. And given their social class, combined with every meal being made by a staff... it makes a lot of sense they would consider pizza to be weird carnival food that isn't fit for dinner.

Rory's dad is named Christopher

We are supposed to get our first snow in Denver on Wednesday. It is always wet and slushy and no one remembers how to drive in it. Otherwise, snow is pretty.

I love the contrast this episode (/show) highlights about the extremely open communication between everyone in Stars Hollow vs. the formal, stilted, awkward style of communication at the grandparents’ house. I also love how, first, Lorelai talks to Max about prioritizing her and Rory’s relationship — and then at the end Rory mirrors that same sentiment with Lane. They are so alike, in the best (and occasionally worst) ways. This episode had BOTH of them figuring out how to open up to a romantic relationship while maintaining their best friend duties.

Oh man! You're so right! Every first snow of the year, everybody drives like they've never seen snow before.

That moment was both so incredibly uncomfortable and awkward, yet also so human and believable. What a great show.

In Denver it always snows at rush hour. It can never just snow from 10am to 2pm. I am dreading my morning commute Wednesday.

I love Richard's line about international relief organization recruiting a celebrity to raise money considering Sally Struthers is in the cast.

The Inedible Mattman!

Talk about a banger episode! This season really does knock it out of the park. So glad you’re watching because every new episode is like a soothing balm to the soul. So how are you enjoying the side characters? Taylor and Kirk and Miss Patty and Babette … the towns characters are so rich and half of what makes these stories so wonderful. Any of them you’re hoping to see more of in the future?

The characters in Stars Hollow are all fantastic. I want more Morey and Babette (It took me a while to realize she was Sally Struthers!) and, of course, more Luke.

I’m glad you noticed the infamous Clown Pillow! Apparently, that pillow is one of Amy Sherman-Palladino’s own pillows that she frequently put in the background of shots because she thought it was funny. Keep an eye out for it, you’ll see it a lot throughout the series!

I once thought I'd watch all of Saturday Night Live to educate myself about all that pop culture. I made it about 3 episodes. It's been on air every week since 1975 and the episodes are 60 minutes PLUS. If you wanted to make marathoning Simpsons seem easy. People defending traditions without questioning why they exist but only because they "are traditions" make me see red. There's a lengthy anecdote I could share about an experiment with a troop of apes being taught violent traditions and then keeping them up even when the basic cause for the violence was removed and every single ape that had experienced it was replaced. . . Imagine going to sleep in an unfamiliar house and not even waking up when people walk and talk around you. Max must be tired as a schoolteacher.
