I'd like to see a "making of" video or something, but here's the basics: > In HBO's Game of Thrones television series, the flaming sword effect was achieved with a real sword that was milled with channels, with dura-blanket material inserted. This would then be covered by another layer.[1] <

In the opening credits, yes Yunkai (in Essos) is another region you haven't seen or heard of before. The camera even passes over Astapor, the 1st site visited in Slaver's Bay (that's the name of the body of water where 3 main cities are situated in Essos). Astapor is where Daenerys got her unsullied army, and now they are on their way to Yunkai.

Welcome to the "Jamie is awesome" club! We're a bunch, and we have jackets ;-) And now you can understand why you've heard from fans of GoT that Jamie is one of their favorite character... hehehehe... I remember you were doubting that recollection in season 1. But in all seriousness, the acting from Nikolaj Coster-Aldau is out of this world! He was nominated twice for a Prime Time Emmy. Unfortunately, never won.

To be fair to Ned, by the time he found Jaime, sitting over the corpse of the king on the Iron Throne... he had walked through the city and witnessed what the Lanisters had done when they sacked the city.

That Jaime scene is one of the all time best in the series.

This is a very “food for thought”, world-building episode — every plot is fuelled by characters making valid, mutually-exclusive points at each other. The decisions people make in this episode will have repercussions you can pinpoint that last through THE REST OF THE SHOW. Diana Rigg is SOOO incredibly good, and kicks such ass as Olenna — I’m glad you’re a fan! She projects such a sense of power and competency. Everything she says about the women like her influencing what happens in Westeros, while living in a near-total patriarchy, is completely believable. The scene where Loras is sparring, and the ladies watching are casually discussing their plans out of earshot, is so interesting. It’s a scene full of people who have a tenuous grasp on either hope or power, while lounging on fancy cushions while people swing swords at each other (and then bang, lol).

Kit Harrington and Rose Leslie started their relationship during the show and are now married. You can definitely tell that they had real chemistry in their scenes. On a lighter note, we know one thing Jon Snow and Junior Soprano have in common in the bedroom.

To expand on how big a deal the Karstarks betraying Robb and Robb executing them is... the Karstarks are close kin of the Starks, descended from a younger brother or cousin or something (I forget which) of a past Stark lord who granted them their own family name, lands, and title for some noble act. The Karstark lord Robb beheaded is Rickard Karstark, named after Ned's father, that's how close they are. Jaime's actor got Emmy nominations for this role a couple of times, though not for this season. Peter Dinklage tended to dominate the acting nominations for this show.

The character dynamics blow my freaking mind. I love that we do get action but we really don't need it. The conversations are so damn entertaining.
