I read The Martian before the movie came out and I've seen the movie, and sure I prefer the book but the movie is a near-perfect adaptation. Absolutely worth watching.

I'm in my 60s. Each time in my memory when the Soviets had a change in leadership, the very first clue that our media on the scene had was that their television started showing only ballet and their radio switched over to pure classical music. It's always a very eerie sign to anyone that lived through the USSR, so once I saw ballet on two channels, I knew something was up. Margot should have especially known the clue and especially with her personal "spy" missing, she was crazy to think anyone in the area would know something. Anything for good TV, I guess though?
