Oh heavens to betsy YES. Helllllll yes. Can't wait to get off work for this. Thrilled you guys picked this show.

Laura Murray

Have you ever watched "The thick of it"? It came out before Veep, and is about the politics in the UK. Armando Ianucci wrote both of these shows, and they're both brilliant, and hilarious. I really think you'd enjoy it, if you enjoy this.

Chris Warner

As far a improvisation goes they apparently wrote a script and rehearsed it with the actors and writers present. Actors were allowed to improvise lines as much as they wanted. Nothing from rehearsals was recorded but the writers remembered the funniest lines and incorporated them into the next script rewrite. They would then rehearse again and then film two hours of scenes and edit it down to just under 30 minutes.

I've never seen Veep but always wanted to, so I will do a 1st-watch along with you! BTW at your mention of Buffy, let me say from the massive Buffy fandom, yes yes yes! It's extraordinary and well worth your time. (And if you see the movie first: it and the series have very little in common.)

This was one of my depths of 2020 binges after I finished Parks and Rec.

I love Buffy (the series) too, though it can be a little dated and it takes a while to get to more serialized storytelling where it really gets good. I might recommend watching Firefly first (the show Whedon did after Buffy) as it's only one season and a movie so much smaller commitment, and it's a lot tighter and mostly doesn't feel dated.

Great, another show I love and need a rewatch. With one of the best comedic actors of our generation, Julia Louis-Dreyfus. (Along with Kaitlyn Olson in Always Sunny, which is probably an impossible request to put on the list of shows with its 16 seasons)

I have seen a decent amount of it's Always Sunny. This was an amazing first episode and I'm completely on board

Great choice for reactions. I'm sure you're going to love it. The UK series it's based on(The Thick of It) is also incredible if you like British humor.

Glad you guys are doing this! Another movie to check out by the same guy (and written by the guy who created Succession) is In the Loop. It's amazing....and based on the UK version of this show, In the Thick of It.

That was fantastic!!! I can't believe I just watched a reaction to Veep! (and now I'm going to watch a 30 Rock, I can't believe that either!). You're doing ALL the intelligent comedies of the 90s-2000s! You gotta hit The Larry Sanders Show eventually, that's the missing link of all of 'em! If you like 30 Rock, you'll love Larry Sanders! Veep's first season is definitely good, but it gets better and better, and you guys are the PERFECT reactors for this show!!! I couldn't imagine anybody better in fact! I just joined this Patreon today, and I'm already a very satisfied subscriber. Thank you, gents! And now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go check out your 30 Rock reactions! See you over there!
