Gorbachev wasn't hanging on by a thread, the thread was actually cut. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1991_Soviet_coup_attempt A popular counter-coup, lead by Yeltsin, was successful. The Soviet Union collapsed not too long afterwards anyway, leading to a few years of chaos. Eventually a mid-ranking politician, former KGB guy, realized that chaos was actually a ladder. And here we are today.

I've been to the KGB museum in Vilnius, Lithuania (which was formerly the real KGB headquarters there). That's very much what their interrogation chambers looked like. It's just a haunting place in general. I still really like how they've done Ed and Margo's old-age makeup. Doesn't seem like they bothered as much with Bill, though, he's gotta be close to their age but other than the gray hair he doesn't look any older than he did 30 years ago.

I was surprised Bill wasn't aged more (I think he is older than Margo), but if he isn't in any scenes beyond that one, I don't mind at all.

They just wrapped filming on S5, according to one of our favorite Russian actors.
