You’re onto the best season of this show now. Everything is just absolutely perfect. Peter Dinklage got an Emmy for his acting this season, which, as you’ll see, is incredible. I cannot wait for you to experience this masterpiece of a season.

I’ve been WAITING for you to meet our boy Oberon. He’s a fantastic addition to the cast and really brings the character to life. This is by far my favorite season in terms of dialogue. I can’t wait to see your reactions and theories for this season 😊

I actually liked that they recast Daario Naharis. No shade to the first actor, but I felt he was TOO good looking, in a classic, high-fantasy, Conan the Barbarian kind of way. New guy is still Hollywood handsome, but doesn’t look like he could have been an elf in The Lord of the Rings! Emilia Clarke is already pretty in that way, and this show can only handle having so many people looking that way.

This season and the previous one are tied for the best for me, because they both cover my favorite book in the series. Season 2 was maybe even a bit of a step down in quality from the first season in my eyes, I didn't like how it adapted some things from book 2 as much and it also completely missed a few of the things I loved about that book. In particular book 2 did a great job of showing how devastating the war has been on the countryside and the average common folk living in it, which the season didn't spend much time on. Seasons 3 and 4 basically adapt the third book, the best in the series, better than I could have hoped. Yep they recast Ed Skrein's character with Michiel Huisman. At the time they were both pretty unknown. The Ed Skrein version of the character looks more accurate to the description in the book, even toned down a little from how ridiculous he's described as looking (bright, multi-color dyed hair and beard), but most of us at the time thought Huisman was an improvement, that he fits into this world better and it was more plausible Daenerys would be into him. Ed Skrein has probably gone on to be a bigger actor but Michiel Huisman went on to a starring role in the absolutely incredible show The Haunting of Hill House. Pedro Pascal got his big break from this show, I forgot he came in this early in the season. I'd say of the actors who didn't already have big careers before this, he and another actor you haven't even met yet in the show probably got the biggest careers coming out of this (including starring together in another show years later). I think you can already see why everybody immediately freaking loved Pedro Pascal from this role. Oberyn Martell was already one of the most awesome characters in the books and with Pedro in the role he's even better.

Fucking love Oberyn and Pedro Pascal as him so much.

Daario is described as even more ridiculous looking in the books. And looks aside Ed Skrein's take on the character was just a lot more over the top, Michiel Huisman plays him as more of a serious advisor and lieutenant (and potential love interest... we'll see where that goes) to Dany.

when you said jaime and brienne were the best part of this episode, i thought "just wait." i love the triumphant end with arya on her own horse and needle back in her possession. not to discount oberyn, who also made a memorable debut in this episode. also, anyone else here feel conflicted about liking the rains of castamere as a song?

Allison O

I want the Brienne and Jaime buddy comedy so bad. The good news is the actors had that covered in every interview they ever did together, which you will be able to watch once spoilers aren’t an issue anymore!

Tywin had Ned’s sword “Ice” forged into two new swords. “Ice” was ancestral sword of House Stark made from Valyrian steel. Currently we have only seen three Valyrian steel weapons. Ice, which was reforged into two swords by Tywin. Longclaw, which Commander Mormont gave to Jon at the wall. The catspaw dagger that was used to try and kill Bran in season one.

I was so excited for you to see this scene with Arya and The Hound. It's one of the best of the series. Iconic AND positive for once.

Yannick Denis-Trudel

Clegane got his chickens, and Arya got the horse she wanted (and her Needle back) !

Roland Cooke

AFAIK, this was most everyone's introduction to Pedro Pascal...and what an introduction it was.

Ser Duncan is mentioned by Joffrey as he's flicking through the Kingsguard book, four full pages of heroic deeds. Ser Duncan is the protagonist of the upcoming A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms series on HBO.

I agree. We are finally getting some really satisfying payoff. I loved that scene. I even went back and rewatched it.

I mean it's a good song. It's deeply tragic. Still very good. That scene was amazing. I couldn't get over it. Pedro had a great introduction. The episode was just that great.

Youtalkingtome

Wow, I can't wait to see who else shows up! This show is so addicting. I'm so tempted to jump into the next episode right now.

Youtalkingtome

I can't wait to read the books. This world is incredible. Excited to see more from the character. We really only got so much from Ed Skrein anyways.
