Elizabeth wouldn't even have Russian food in the house, destroyed a emotional connection piece of art for operational security....and Philip has a Russian video on his TV. Elizabeth is also pushing back for the first time ever.

It is a really good character change for Elizabeth. I thought she was going to kill that poor kid for sure.

So very upset right now - just realized I'm going to be gone on vacation for two weeks (I know, feel sorry for me) starting the 20th and will miss the Series Finale when it comes out..... Six Feet Under, Lost and The Americans have my favorite 3 finales so.......screeeaming right now! Originally airing on May 16, 2018, 'The Summit' is Episode 8 of Season 6 of The Americans. It is the 73rd episode overall and has an IMDB rating of 9.0, placing it as the #4 ranked episode of this season and #2 out of all the episodes shown so far.

I think she took the painting as a kindness to the husband (in his grief he wanted to gift it), and because she liked the painting. I’m pretty she burned the painting per protocol so there would be no link between her and the artist (and by extension the artist’s husband with the high level DC clearance). I think she wanted to keep it, but it was better to cover her tracks and buffer the real Elizabeth from her cover as Stephanie the hospice nurse.

Was watching ahead on the WW and saw an actress I knew I knew from somewhere but couldn't place her so I IMDB'd her...it was Miriam Shor, the actress that died of cancer in this episode. She's only in 1 episode of the WW (coming up soon for you guys) and it's a bit part so not a huge spoiler. In The Americans she's 47 and in the WW she's 34 so it took a bit for me to recognize the age gap difference. P.S. She's from Minneapolis so probably was a Twins fan too :)

I don't know about "good"....breaking all the rules that kept her safe these many years.

So now's the time to start making predictions on the fates of all the characters.... 🤩

You're totally right. In a way I like to think it was her killing that part of herself. Show no emotion. She was following protocol but not letting the human side come out.

I finally got round to updating my post in The Good Place S2E8 thread, so just doubling up here: > Your request for Adam Scott to make an appearance is an interesting one. You guys are actually currently watching both this [The Good Place] and another show [The Americans] which each lost an interesting and influential supporting character because in each case the actor involved got cast as a lead in another new show. IIRC neither of those other shows worked / survived, but only one actor makes a return to the show you are watching. Time will tell! < > You're playing with my emotions right now lol < To complete the story: Adam Scott left to star in Ghosted which lasted for a single season. I think I watched the pilot episode and was underwhelmed. I just learned that Scott's screen wife was played by Britt Lower who would go on to co-star with him in Severance, my favorite show of 2022. She's so good in that, that I might go back and watch more Ghosted just for her. Margo Martindale was the other actor, she stepped out for a season of The Americans to co-star in a season and a half(!) of The Millers, which was cancelled midway through the second season. The silver lining of course was that the brilliant Frank Langella was brought in to play Gabriel, a fab-favorite character. Both actors were eventually in and around The Americans from then on, including one of my favorite scenes from the whole show where Claudia goes "boo-hoo" in Gabriel's face. :D

I think one of the main questions of the show is, “Can one truly be sentimental AND a good undercover spy (ie achieving mission goals, not getting caught, staying alive, protecting family, protecting intel, protecting their network, protecting assets, etc.), OR should proper spy protocols supersede all traces of sentimentality to avoid/eliminate any potential weaknesses that may threaten the aforementioned list?”

I knew it had to be scheduling conflicts. Glad that she was able to return but unfortunate that Adam Scott couldn't return to TGP
