that guy sucking up to bill was like every guy who tries to chat up a woman and then yells about how she's a fat ugly bitch after she politely says she's not interested.

Kim Dickens is the actress playing Joanie Stubbs. I didnt watch her on that Walking Dead sequel but she had small parts in Hollow Man and Gone Girl that I remember. HBO liked her too because she got one of the main parts on Treme and was really good.

There's an actor here that I'm sure you know who's been here since the first episode that I can't believe you guys haven't noticed yet... if you did please correct me. Actor with initials A.G.

Every line of dialogue in Deadwood is so delightful. I agree it's like a miniature game of thrones where instead of kingdoms you have saloons hotels hardware stores in a western camp, the scale is smaller but it's oh so entertaining. Al Swearengen is geniunely the most intimidating character on television to me. And way better of a mob boss or criminal or you name it than Tony Soprano or others from big shows. You could even say he's the main character more than anyone else but it would be weird to say it's the Al Swearengen show. I saw him compared once in a review with America at the time of the West and that stuck with me, he's ruthless, violent, racist, rude, etc. but is also enterprising and attempting somewhat to become civilized after taming the wilderness, surviving all the beatings he is now grateful for etc. E.B. Farnum being such a weasel is also delightful in his own way, every interaction between him and Al is peak deadwood. Cy Tolliver is also just perfect casting for some competition to Swearengen's salloon. You can just go on and on talking about how cool every character is even if it's just as simple as Charlie Utter being a good friend to Wild Bill and trying to help him. This show also makes me want to replay some red dead redemption 2 lol

I hadn't realized that point about each episode covering a single day. The writer, David Milch, started that back with "Hill Street Blues" (and later with "NYPD Blue"), where each episode took place over the course of one day in the precinct, beginning with morning roll call and Sgt. Esterhaus saying "Let's be careful out there."

I played the crap out of RD2 when it came out! Al Swearengen is one of the most intimidating men I've ever seen. Right up there with S5 Walter White. Love the comparison to GOT as well!
