Actuarial Lurker

Joe and Kevin: Have you guys watched the classic late 70s sitcom "Soap". That question is prompted by Rosie Lee Brown who was in that series...if not it's hilarious and runs 4 seasons

Actuarial Lurker

Yes- it had Billy Crystal, Robert Guillame, Katherine Helmond, Richard Mulligan, Diana Canova, Cathryn Damon, Rober Urich, Gordon Jump, Howard Hessman and many more. I was 11 in 1977 when it debuted. It was ground breaking because of the subject matter since it parodied day time Soap Operas it had gay characters, alien abductions, amnesia, adultery etc. which pushed the censor limits that had previously been expended by All in The Family, The Jeffersons, and MASH

You may have figured it out already, but the movie poster with William Hurt and Raul Julia is Kiss of the Spider Woman.

I wore the VHS of this movie OUT in the late 80s, and I still have some of the lines in my head ("K ... muthaf***in' GB?"). There are so many great actors in small roles in this. I never noticed Demon from Friday the 13th V ("Those damn enchiladas!"). I remember watching all the "chat" scenes and thinking it was so cool and wishing there was a way to communicate like that. (I also love how eventually they use Jonathan Pryce's voice and Terry interacts out loud with his messages, like they're talking on the phone.)

Glad you guys enjoyed it! My Grandma passed away last night, I've been caring for her for the last few years, so this was the fun diversion I needed! Thanks :)

Tara, let us offer our deepest condolences. We really loved this one, but not as much as we enjoyed watching it with you. Thanks again Tara

This brings back one of my best childhood memories. I remember I was around 10 years old or so and Comedy Central was running a 24/7 marathon of all of "Soap". I got my parents to watch it and we all were glued to the TV all weekend watching on their bedroom TV laying on their bed.

This is one of those movies that I always meant to watch and never got to I had no idea it had a spy theme but this was a lot of fun I discovered Whoopi as a kid because my three favorite feel good comedies from the 90s were Sister Act, Mrs. Doubtfire and Kindergarten Cop.

Jonathan

That may be coming up on your movie requests sometime in the next few months
