Actuarial Lurker

Dr. Melfi calls out tony on his "i love animals" BS. Tony nicely tries to blame NY for Ralphie's "disappearance"

So this is what a "Mob 12-step Intervention" actually might look like....you actually have to WANT to quit, not be forced by gangsters to do it. This reminds me of Walter White and Skyler with the "talking pillow"

The actor playing Furio, Federico Castellucio, is a classically trained studio painter. He found a mislabeled 17th century painting, bought it at auction for under $100K, had it refurbished, and then resold it for $10 Million. So he made a fortune from art and not from acting- and NOT from his OWN art

Love that guy, he was actually born in Naples (authenticity!) but grew up in NJ and lived near us (maybe still does?) and used to come into the local pizza parlor. The owner had pictures of them together on the wall. There's tons of stories like that with Sopranos actors around here!

Paulie having plastic on his furniture is one of my favorite little touches.

It's so perfectly him, to think that something like that (and the painting) brings a touch of class to the place.

Good for him! I found a first edition hardback of The Bourne Identity at a garage sale for $1 once, and sold it on eBay for $55. So, basically the exact same thing. :)

I agree, and that was my thought through the whole episode: no way this kind of coercion is really going to be effective.

I think it's intentional we haven't seen much of Dr. Melfi this season, because somebody needs to be reigning Tony in on his unchecked behavior.

Scalability is key- I found a "test pressing" of a 45RPM of the Rolling Stones' Brown Sugar at a garage sale while in High School but my mother threw it away...it was probably worth $50

The intervention is one of my favorite scenes in the whole series. I think Alla Kliouka, who plays Svetlana, fucking crushes it in this episode. David Chase really knows how to reward these guest stars who stick around season after season.
