Say welcome to Jonathan Pryce! Great actor, a welcomed addition to the cast in season 5.

I'm very happy to do the rewatch with you... it gives a fresh perspective to the events of this season (which I skip sometimes to get to key episodes later on, I'll admit) Thanks!

Jon is just born to lead. Mormont saw it. Maester Aemon saw it. I think even Tyrion saw it... maybe before anyone else.

1) Fear not, I have nothing with which to defend Cersei in this episode. Now, if Tommen had been prepubescent the way he is in the books... but he's not in the show, thank the Seven. That said, Margaery is my favorite character, and I feel like she was a bit uncharacteristically hubristic in this episode. She really feels safe... in King's Landing... a day after her wedding... what? It's like she forgot she was still playing a game. 2) The Arya Karate Kid training was by far the most baffling for me and my then roommates when we watched this. It's just so bizarre at times. 3) I think maybe we can solidify Littlefinger as THE WORST at this point, right?

Yes, the idea of Gwendoline Christie (Brienne) being somehow universally considered ugly requires so much suspension of disbelief, you're not alone

"I'm sorry, we don't have any wine, it's a bit early in the day for us". :D Poke the lioness, what could possibly go wrong?! I think Margaery is giddy with success, only excuse for this reckless behaviour, she's normally iron disciplined.

Roland

I wonder if Cersei learned a lesson from Margaery - develop unexpected alliances. In Margaery's case it was the populace (Princess Diana style), in Cersei's case she's making overtures to a very strange gang...

Pretty much the same deal as Peter Dinklage's character being somehow considered universally ugly. She's tall so she's ugly, except as a real person she's objectively gorgeous. He's short so he's ugly, except as a real person he's objectively a good looking man.

Jonathan Pryce is so great in this. He's really filling a role I wanted to see in season 2. Book 2 spends a lot of time showing how devastating the war had already been to ordinary people and the whole countryside, the show's season 2 doesn't spend much time on that. So I love the High Sparrow being the voice for those people who got left out of the show but suffered just as much from these events as they did in the books.

Meant to mention last episode that Prince Doran, ruler of Dorne and Oberyn's (Pedro Pascal's character) older brother, is played by Alexander Siddig. Phenomenal actor best known as Dr. Bashir from Star Trek Deep Space Nine. For Arya's storyline, she's told there is only one god, and all men know his name. She has been told about this one god by a teacher before. In this world, which god do you think that is, Joe? (intending to ask good-naturedly) Margaery's barbs at Cersei are legendary. "I wish we had some wine for you, it's a bit early in the day for us." I hate so much what is happening to Sansa here and my only consolation is none of that has happened so far in the books.

Youtalkingtome

I'm not sure. Is it supposed to be The Lord of Light? I know we heard the many faced God in this episode as well? Is there a correlation?

Youtalkingtome

They're both gorgeous! Lol I'll suspend my disbelief, they're living in a senseless world on this show anyways.

Youtalkingtome

Margaery is so enjoyable! Right? Like I'm not sure what's happening in Braavos but I'm here for it. Littlefinger is the biggest heel on the show IMO. I think I hate him more than the Bolton's.

I'm really exiting to see more of The Sparrows. After S4, I was kind of like, well now what? I like this is the direction they are headed in the aftermath of Tywin.

Roland

And I love the reincarnation of Cousin Lancel, from wimpy semi-incestuous boytoy to roided-up religious zealot. Great acting (twice!).

Roland

Gwendoline Christie appears in Severance and her appearance in that is....unorthodox. :D Christie's is not a classic Hollywood beauty - she probably couldn't have been cast "au natural" as Brienne or in Severance if she was - but screen presence? She has that by the truckload. I'm on board for whatever she does next.
