This is a great movie (1974), ages since I last saw it. I don't remember much about the remake, so I guess it scored it a "meh" with me. + I think you're a bit behind on updating your Collections section for movies? I need to trawl through the listing and pick a couple of bangers for the wife and I watch together (with your commentary in my ear. :) )

I just watched this for the first time a couple of days ago! Really cool time capsule of New York and a solid movie. What a cool coincidence!

I saw this in 1974 at age 8 with my father in theater. This WAS filmed on location mainly at the abandoned Court Street station that later became the Transit Museum. It was also part of the set of the French Connection. This WAS very realistic...I would use the NYC subways every weekend as a kid to get around- mainly into Manhattan. From 1978 to 1984 I commuted about 75-90 minutes each way by subway to my school Mon-Fri which ran from 7th to 12th grade and then many weekends. So just a few years after this I was a 12 year old riding ALONE in the AM with all the business people going to work and then coming home at 3pm with my friends and was on the train 250x a year or more. The city would only allow them to film if they made the subway look nice by pretending there was no graffiti since the then Mayor Lindsey wanted to sanitize out image for tourists after President Ford refused to bail NY out and NYC bonds defaulted. It wasn't until the late 1980s that the last graffiti covered train was taken out of service... the film the Warriors was NOT too far off from reality- naked homeless people defecating on the platforms, no working AC in August when NYC is 90-100 degrees and below ground it was 120+, gangs robbing people in mid-day or after 7pm when commuters were not around

Oh man! Yes, admittedly, my NYC subway experiences were much more mundane and air conditioned than that.
