Such a great movie! Can't wait to watch. Thanks, Tara!

Oh hell yeah, Charade! Such a delight.

What a fantastic and stylish who-done-it! I've been meaning to see this one for the longest time, so thank you (and thank you Tara!). First off - Joe - bonus points for knowing who Saul Bass is. I work as a writer in marketing and once tried to explain that style to my boss for a video we were planning...to no avail. It was tragic. In this film...Carey Grant is always fantastic - he does that understated, slightly exasperated thing that I think Hugh Grant later made his trademark. And then, isn't Audrey Hepburn wonderful? As a kid, we had a VHS of My Fair Lady that I watched incessantly, pretending I was her (it was released the year after this). BTW - about 30 minutes in, Grant makes a comment to Hepburn on the phone about "on the street where you live" -- the title to a famous (and my favorite) song from My Fair Lady. Additionally - Hepburn's costumes were done by Hubert de Givenchy (zhee-von-shee). He was one of the major post-war French fashion houses, and did Hepburn's costumes through many films. Gorgeous stuff. Also -- Alfred Hitchcock and Audrey Hepburn movies are blind spots? Oh no, no, no, no - my guys - that will not stand. I know what I'll be requesting next ;)

OMG - one of my favorites! Audrey + Cary = perfection. And what a great rogue’s gallery (of future Oscar winners) as the villains! Can’t wait to watch your reaction.

Tara

Glad you enjoyed it! I can def see the MI influence. I worked on Rogue Nation and the scene in this under the stage reminds me of the scene in that at the opera!

My childhood sick days always included watching classic Cary Grant movies on basic cable and episodes of the Price is Right. This really takes me back.

Oh man! The Price Is Right was my sick-day go-to. I will never dye my hair, because when I was a kid, Bob Barker just showed up one day with white hair. Freaked me out. SO I vowed at like 7 to just let it happen naturally.

Thanks, Tara, this was so much fun! This is one of the few classics that I've never seen, and it's always fun watching something new with friends. It reminded me of another Stanley Donen film which I'll be purchasing for a future watch.

Wolfgang Wolf

Stanley Donen was the director of a little film called "Singing In The Rain"
