Just so you know guys, you forgot to add Uncut to the title of this post ;)

Paul T Hewes

whomever inflicted this on you is a monster.

I love this movie, but man was it rough. I was impressed to see you'd watched it. I knew you'd appreciate the filmmaking technical aspects. But seriously, how often do you see shocking twists like that in a documentary? A gut punch for sure.

My God, this film is PAINFUL. Even though I'd seen it before, the closer it got to revealing Zachary's fate, I was in absolute knots. This is one of those crying-so-hard-you-can't-breathe movies. Kurt made a follow-up short called "The Legacy of Dear Zachary: A Journey to Change in Law." It's only 14 minutes long and it will restore your faith in humanity. It's uploaded to Kurt's YouTube channel here -- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bR2o8-0bMlc. Oscilloscope Laboratories is an independent film company and distributor that was co-founded by Adam Yauch (MCA of the Beastie Boys). They've put out a lot of cool stuff over the years.

This is easily the most devastating thing I’ve ever watched. The incompetence and outright failure of the legal system was jaw-dropping. And even though I am so sad and so very, very angry right now – this was beautifully made, and I’m glad to have seen it. (Thank you, Jennifer)

Absolutely. I am so furious that the people in the justice system that helped Turner every step of the way were too cowardly to speak publicly about their mistakes.

Watched this so long ago in my twenties.. Still brings me to tears. So glad this was requested!

I didn't know if I'd be able to actually watch the entire movie again (I'd debated about waiting until you uploaded the youtube edit) but I'm glad I did. The first time I watched was around 2016 so it's been a long time. While I remembered the story (how could I forget) I'd forgotten how the documentary itself had been put together and some of the frenetic editing choices that he'd made. It was really interesting to revisit. I still cried, of course, but at least I felt prepared this time. Really appreciated your reaction to this.

I first saw this on a live watch event on another channel. It was good to watch it with other people. Knowing what was going to happen made me able to focus on the artistry more. It infuriates me that appeals judge who said she wasn't a danger had a successful 20 year career. I hadn't realized Kurt was a director on The Blacklist gives me an excuse to watch more of that show. Sorry my movie being pulled from Amazon messed with the schedule but Monday probably would have been just as bad. Good job getting through the other reactions today.

Just checking in how you guys are doing... As good as this documentary is, I'm in the camp where I just can't recommend it to anyone.

Youtalkingtome

Thanks! No worries. It looks like Julia was recently pulled from Amazon; it had a link, but the link said the movie was not currently available because the rights to it had expired.

Youtalkingtome

Definitely, right? It was absolutely infuriating, heart-breaking, and beautifully composed. It was rough, but absolutely worth watching.

I know the circumstances are beyond awful but I do think this is the best movie ever made about grief and friendship. When Kurt asks at the end when is the movie done but he is really asking how long will he feel like this. Heartbreaking. Thank you again for watching.
