I love this movie. Such a little known part of WW1 in America. I learned a lot about the war ( history is a hobby of mine) back in the day. Winston Churchill was 1st Lord of the Admiralty then and was pushing hard to open a Mediterranean front for the Allies. He believed the Turks would offer little or no resistance and the Allies would unite the Balkins and rescue Serbia. After the disaster this became he resigned and joined an Infantry regiment to fight in the trenches in France. Another great movie on that war is "The Light Horsemen". It focuses on the operations of the Australian Light Horse Division in the Middle East during the war.

Agreed Gallipoli and The Light Horsemen are great that Calvary charge is amazing. If you’ve never seen you might want to check out ANZACS (1985) a 5 part Australian miniseries covering WWI from the Australian perspective it’s very good and is on YouTube.
