In the novel Deborah Kerrs character Karen can’t have children because her happened contracted gonorrhea and passed it on to her forcing her to have a hysterectomy as part of the cure. Of course this being when the code was still enforced they had to change it.

The man who tells Warden (Burt Lancaster) about Mrs Holmes is George Reeves aka Superman.

Sinatras question to Montgomery Clift about if he has an predjuice against girls is kinda funny because in real life Clift was gay.

If you are interested in watching another film related to Pearl Harbor, I recommend "The Final Countdown" starring Martin Sheen.

Excellent choice! Agreed - the writing and performances were fantastic. The stand-out for me here is always Frank Sinatra. As much as I love him as a crooner (I practically melt whenever I listen to his 'In the Wee Small Hours' album), he's really a fine actor as well. If I remember right, this film helped revive his career - he was in a bit of a slump in the post-Tommy Dorsey/ pre-Rat Pack years.

I can't help thinking about that poor horse in "The Godfather".

This is specifically 'that new war movie' Johnny Fontaine wants to be cast for in The Godfather. Favors were done.

The majority of the stock footage of the attack comes from the documentary December 7th (1943) directed by John Ford and Gregg Toland.

This was an interesting watch, I enjoyed it quite a bit. Maybe not as much as the Academy clearly did at the time but I liked the characters complexity and there are some specific moments that will stick in my head like that teary bugle send-off.

If you get a chance other good movie by this films director Fred Zinnemann to check out is High Noon (1952) and The Day of The Jackal (1973).
