I think when it comes to Jess's car, the reason people are so mad is because Jess never really made amends. I think that amends was necessary because even though Jess apologized about hurting her, he never really took ownership of the accident. While an accident is no one's fault he was still behind the wheel and destroyed the car, and then did nothing to fix it. Yes, Rory has insurance and definitely has more money, but Jess still should have made some acknowledgment that he ruined her car, especially before he got a car for himself before she got a new one. I don't even think it needed to be big, even buying a pair of fuzzy dice to hang from the mirror and saying its for her next car would have at least acknowledged it. That would be like your friend getting in a car accident with you in your car, then turning around and buying a car for themselves before you even got yours back. He isn't "wrong" for buying himself a car, but it is kind of rubbing Rory's face in it, even if he didn't mean to. I also do not think Sherri was intentionally cruel, but she was so clueless and inconsiderate she might as well have been. She knows Lorelei and Christopher are on the outs, she even acknowledges that, but still pressures her to come. She also continually talks about Christopher and how much better he is now that Lorelei fixed him. Even if she doesn't know about Lorelei and Christopher almost getting back together... can you imagine being at your ex's house, and the new partner is just going on and on about how amazing your ex is and its all because of your hard work but now they get the benefits while they giggle and laugh about how much better life now that they have your ex in their life? Sherri may not have had the full story but I feel like any person knows you don't brag about how amazing your partner is and how lucky you are to have them when their ex is standing a couple feet away. Its just tacky. Either change the subject or change the guest list.

This was a good "town" episode where we got to see many residents of Stars Hollow interact. Did we need this whole Taylor vs the priest/rabi moment? Not really but it was great and I'm glad it was included.

Next episode... get ready!

Those are really great points. I assumed Jess had apologized to Rory (I could be misremembering that; he certainly owed her a heartfelt apology). I just question her sincerity especially because she said last season that the wreck was an accident and she had asked Jess to drive, and now, she is on board with the outrage at him over getting a car.

The “baby” thing is an obnoxious party game and also, I went to a baby shower from work where they played it (many years after first seeing this episode) and I was absolutely vicious. I think I had literally everyone’s pins by the end. If you’re gonna do a thing . . . I think Sherri is understandable if you assume she thinks Lorelai and Christopher were high school sweethearts and it’s been completely over, done, and no longer an issue for 17 years. Like if you think someone’s ex is a friendly ex from actual decades ago - sure, this makes sense. Sucks for Lorelai but makes sense from Sherri’s perspective. The deviled eggs thing is dumb but Rory’s demented face when she suggests it is so funny it almost works for me.

I feel like Sherri's obliviousness is Christopher's fault. Right or wrong (and it is debatable), he hasn't been forthcoming about their relationship.

Kevin, definitely check out the HBO documentary And So it goes about Billy Joel.

I cannot WAIT for you guys to watch the next ep. :)

The Gilmores have all a problem with maturity...Including Christopher btw. It's in their genes. (Half-kidding, half-serious).

If you already have critics about your critical reviews on the characters, bou you haven't seen the end of it yet! So be prepared! There are some shows like this one where fans are not always very nuanced. I regret that about the fandom(s) sometimes they, they love the show so they have very strong feelings but come on, it's a fiction, it's a scenario. *sighs*

Yasemin

Ha! Very true. As in, chill, people, you know Lorelai (and everyone else) is a fictional character, right? :) It sometimes seems to be forgotten....and it can be quite funny.

It's 2 episodes at 2.5 hours each... and the first one doesn't even get you out of the '70s! Hubby and I are into the 2nd half, going to finish it tonight! Next, they need to do one on Lionel Richie! They're two of the best singer/songwriters ever to walk the planet!!!
