This season ran during the 2016 campaign, Season 6 ran in 2017 (The first year of the Trump administration), and the final season ran in 2019. Without spoiling anything, it’s important that you guys know that none of this show was produced or aired after May of 2019.

Man oh man: this episode shows why Veep had to end. Real life has surpassed the imaginations of satire writers. That said: what a kickoff episode! Clea Duvall has arrived! The last piece of the jigsaw! I just looked at the Veep Wikipedia page and she is literally the last cast member listed. On top of that, Richard is now definitely fully Richard! No more lackey! And the entire cast are acting their asses off, doing these great scripts! Although the last two seasons are great also, I think this is probably the peak season because she got breast cancer and had to put the show on hiatus. ALSO: they got a new show runner. They switched from Armando Ianucci to David Mandel, who had written on the Seinfeld show and directed for Curb Your Enthusiasm. Apparently, he's also the first American writer to write for Veep! Up to this point all of the episodes have been written by Brits!!!!

By the way, off topic but has anyone seen the trailer for the new Tony Hale movie, "Sketch"? It's a kids movie but looks very well done and is getting great reviews. I'm so happy for him! He's playing a Dad, not another Buster or Gary (as different as those two characters actually are from each other!).

I completely agree with you about the absurdity of the world surpassing the show. The bit of her not wanting to send federal aid to a state that didn't vote for her is 100% Donald Trump, and it doesn't even raise eyebrows when he says so.
