Beyond the Wall

I understand you in wanting to have a faster pace to the season... "Let's get there already!" type. But it getting a bit out of hand IMO. So Gendry has won the Beyond the Wall marathon for getting back to Eastwatch in record time, then they send the steroid-infused Raven to Dragonstone in 1 night, for Daenerys to fly the whole way from the moment The Hound stupidly throws a rock on the ice to when she arrives. Ouffff... Talking about Deus Ex Machina, Benjen arriving on a horse that is as big as Rose and Jack's door in Titanic (because it won't fit 2 ppl)... Oh, and the Walkers went to "Beyond the Wall Depot" to get those 4 half-mile long chains, got some whights to swim (hey, they now can go underwater and not stop functioning, unlike when Jon came back from under the water) and knot them to Viseryon. It's really where I feel the wheels dropping the "makes sense" wagon. But the action is great, and I truly like watching the show because I want to see what will happen next. On to the season's finale (LOTS to talk about then, and not for mechanics of the show, I swear!)

The conversations happening beyond the Wall are sooooo cool! It gives a whole new type of show, and the merge of so many storylines let them do this. It's the joy of a long running show with massive character count... Near the end, the lines merges and we get conversations we never thought we could have! And your idea of the Targaryen redemption arc with Daenerys' story is a true gem of an insight! Great way to analyze it!

The unending red-shirts appearing on that Rock in the middle of the Frozen Lake is laughable, agreed. So many risks, 1 real causality: Thoros of Myr. Plot armor, which normally tend to disappear with a show nearing the end, is magically in ample supply.

Arya and Sansa are so maddening right now. But we're still missing so many pieces to completely finish this conversation that we'll get back to this, but I know it's killing you!

The times and distances are obviously getting completely absurd at this point : Eastwatch to Dragonstone is further than Winterfell to King's Landing, which took 1 month in season 1, and now a round trip is less than 24 hours... But the most unrealistic to me is how they survived the full night on that rock in the middle of winter, beyond the wall, without so much as a fire to keep them warm. Like, didn‘t we establish how deadly the winters are, especially this far north ? That's really the biggest problem with these inconsistencies : by suddenly ignoring all these previously established constraints and perils, they cheapen the whole thing.

Still a big fan of the whole series until the end, keep enjoying what you like (book reader btw, they were excellent)

This season starts out fine for me, but by the end it’s all so ridiculous. They gradually needed to speed things up throughout the season, which I get. But like others have mentioned, when the episode came out we were all like how did she fly all the way from dragon stone in a day? It starts to feel like fanfiction.
