We mourn the loss of one of Hollywood's true legends today, Robert Redford. A true movie star and Academy Award-Winning director, he originated the role of Paul Bratter in Neil Simon's Barefoot in the Park in 1963 near the beginning of his long and illustrious career. We had the pleasure of watching him star on this channel in The Sting, Sneakers, The Natural, and Out of Africa, as well as one of his directorial masterpieces, Quiz Show. He brought us the Sundance Film Festival to advance the craft of independent film making, helping to give voices to filmmakers and their projects that might otherwise have gone unnoticed.

A true artist and icon. He will be missed.

You had it on a poll recently and if you get a chance check out The Great Waldo Pepper. A really underrated gem reuniting Redford with the director of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid and The Sting George Roy Hill. RIP you will be missed glad he at least got to live a long life.

You should make three polls: one for acting, one for directing, and one for the Sundance Film Awards.

He played one of my favorite characters in an old Twilight Zone episode. RIP...

NPR had a brief tribute with a clip from All the President’s Men. A fitting homage.

Perhaps a Poll could be done in his honor. A Poll for a film he directed, as well as one he starred in. Ordinary People (1980) Director The Way We Were (1973) Starred

An amazing and sad coincidence I was watching Robert Redford in “the last castle” when I got the news he passed. Just recently rewatched “lions for lambs” and with you I watched quiz show recently.

I’m glad that this was the way I found out, because of how much appreciation of his filmography and career is in this post and the comments.
