The symbolism of Phil literally coming out of the closet at the motel room.

Actuarial Lurker

Phil has killed one of Tony's "Capos"- not much different than Santino being killed in Godfather I (except not being a relative). He needed a sit down- the irony is that in Goodfellas the killing of Batts (played by the same actor) without a sit down led to Pesci's character being whacked. The only "claim" is that Phil is related to Vito's wife and his closeted homosexuality was "an infamia"...like selling drugs near schools would have been in the commission meeting in Godfather 1...it is also delayed payback for Tony not letting Phil kill Tony B previously

I DO compare Tony's trip to Italy when he "acquired" Furio and Carmella's trip to Paris...agree that that she does have SOME self reflection- but neither enjoyed anything about the trips- Tony because he doesn't "stop to smell the roses" and ironically Carmella because she DOES and hates her life

Believe me- a NJ tabloid of that time WOULD have printed that. Recall the infamous NY Post headline "Headless Body in Topless Bar"
