Well, I wasn't planning on staying up this late, but the movie completely sucked me in - I loved it! For some reason I was expecting it to be a lighter, spun-sugar kind of movie, but it was so much more complex and human than that. I can see why it’s so popular. Redford and Streisand are magnetic. Plus, it’s nice to finally know the context for a tune I’ve heard forever :) And yes, you guys are absolutely right, many of their arguments - especially about principles and free speech towards the end - are incredibly timely. In a terrifying way.

Kinda off subject, but I was thrilled to hear you mention watching On Golden Pond in your opening dialogue. I don’t think anyone has reacted to that yet. It would be awesome if the two of you were the first. Such an excellent film.

A deleted scene reveals the real reason for Hubbell and Katie's breakup: James Woods’ character gives Katie’s name to the Un-American Activities Committee to save himself. Katie left not due to the affair, but to protect Hubbell’s reputation.

This was my first movie with Streisand in a lead role... a bit before my time. This came out the year before I was born. Her music has always been special to me. My grandmother was a dance teacher and loved her music. Her favorite Broadway show was West Side Story. In 1985, Streisand came out with a Broadway album with the song Somewhere, from West Side Story. My grandmother played it all the time! It was and still is my favorite Streisand song... my grandmother's was The Way We Were! Thanks for the memories, fellas!
