You may be aware this is based on the Patrick O'Brian book series. Fans of the books (of whom I am one) I think all agree this is a very good adaptation, capturing a lot of what we love about the books, while being a very impressive film in its own right. If youre interested in some behind the scenes info, there's a podcast called The Lubber's Hole dedicated to exploring the books. A couple of episodes take a deep dive into the film: Episode 20 with a guest who was involved as a historical consultant during filming, and episode 71 (jointly with Cine-Files podcast) appreciating the film.

I really wanna read this series. This easily could have been a film series. Maybe Russell Crowe's best performance? That might be a hot take. I want so much more from this world.
