Great pick, GDF! I can't wait to watch this one.

The Netflix adaptation was spectacular as well! I preferred it to the movie.

I had absolutely no idea this movie existed which honestly surprised me.

Oooh, I wasn't expecting the reaction so quick. Yeah, I actually only heard of this film because I saw that Netflix were releasing a Mini-Series on it in 2024. Now that I've watched The Way We Were with you, I'm wondering if David Nichols took inspiration from that since we follow them for 20 years, and Dex is well to do and Emma is very politically involved. I was the same age as the two characters near the beginning of One Day and it's one of those films that is on my list as "has changed the way I'm going to live my life." The film isn't really a romance, it's about Life and all its various twists and turns and how it can sometimes just...suck. And how it is short and can be cut any shorter. (Emma had done that bike ride so many times over the years as part of her commute, and sadly the 15th July was the day of her death, and is why we follow that One Day the whole film.) The lessons of the film are: Life is short. Take advantage of any opportunities it throws at you. Buckle down for the hard parts. And tell the people in your life how you feel about them/your feelings. Emma and Dexter could've enjoyed many more years together if one of them had said something. So don't let the time just go. "So that whatever happens tomorrow, we've had today." - Emma Morley

Oh yeah, you were talking about an Extended Cut. Netflix adapted the book into a very popular Mini-Series in 2024 (which is how many of us found out about the film) and there are more scenes from the book in that. It's really enjoyable even if you watched the film, maybe more so. The actors do a great job and I think it may even be better than the film. If you are ever looking to do another mini-series, I highly recommend it as the other commenters have done. The writer of the book David Nichols, who wrote the screenplay for this film, is also one of the Executive Producers of the show.

I forgot all about the miniseries! Oh, it was lovely and refreshing. I'll have to give it a rewatch. Thanks.

Lone Scherfig is such a wonderful director. Her movie An Education got many Oscar noms in 2010 and put Carey Mulligan on the map.

This does feel a lot like The Way We Were. I didn't make that connection. I really enjoyed this and I'm really curious to check out the book now
