huh. my foot actually matches the length between my elbow and wrist. but maybe that’s because i also wear a size 9 (i don’t know why she called that “big” when 8.5 is average) and i have short little arms. and as much as i love “big mistake. huge!” i’m with michele from romy and michele’s high school reunion: “i just get really happy when they finally let her shop.”

Thanks for mentioning Romy and Michelle's High School Reunion. I had remembered seeing a scene somewhere of two women talking about the Pretty Woman shopping scene but could not for the life of me remember what that was from! Thanks!

Seinfeld started the year before this movie came out, so Jason Alexander was already George, but the show had not caught on to be a huge hit yet. He'd also just won a Tony award the year before this, for Sondheim's "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum."

The Audrey Hepburn reference is likely a nod to this and My Fair Lady both being adaptations of the George Bernard Shaw play, Pygmalion. The later being a musical adaptation staring Hepburn. The basic premise being a wealthy man "transforming" a lower class woman.

Julia Roberts was an absolute vision in this movie! That smile remains unmatched 3 decades in!

The foot being the length of your forearm is typically true, though can be a couple cm off, mine is spot on. The length of your outstretched arms is also equal to your height. There's a lot of these proportionate measurements, see The Vitruvian Man by Da Vinci.

I hadn’t seen this a very long time. I am just noticing how many actors in Pretty Woman were also in The Princess Diaries. The Garry Marshall players, I guess.

This is such a great movie! Richard Gere and Julia Roberts are fantastic together - and so glamorous! I see others have already identified the opera as La Traviata, but to add a little more context to her reaction: It's the story of a courtesan (Violetta) who falls in love with an aristocrat. Ultimately it's a tragedy. When we see Vivian tearing up, Violetta is singing her swan song. It's devastating, but one of the most beautiful arias you'll ever hear. And just a side note - those little opera glasses have a screw on the side where the hinge is so you can adjust and tighten it into place... They're not meant to be that floppy :)

Kevin singing along with the soundtrack is adorable.

There is a Documentary series on Netflix called "The Movies That Made Us", they have a chapter on Pretty Woman. You can learn how the movie was made and I remember that Jason Alexander is being interviewed.
