This is definitely a show that can make you regret that you’ve eaten *and* make you hungry *and* make you regret being hungry. Those mushrooms are so gross and Hannibal’s food looks so good and then you think about what it’s made from. It’s a wild ride and this show looks so unique.

Oh my god... I used to think being buried alive would be the worst way to go. I stand corrected. Agreed, the conversation at the end there is super interesting - basically psychoanalyzing God for his own purposes. Brilliant writing.

Are those mushrooms "Arm to Table"? I couldn't resist...

Lying to a Federal Officer while being interrogated can be a crime in of itself...obstructing justice is a local, state and Federal crime. For example, in many of the BLM like incidents where the cops try to stop witnesses from recording on their phones (totally legal) they charge people with obstruction (which gets dismissed) to harass people since they need time, money and lawyer to make the charges go away The lighting and cinematography when Crawford is with Freddie from the Tattler is awesome- she looks green like a goblin....

Being "locked in" like the soldier in Metallica's music video "One" that uses clips from the 1971 film "Johnny Got His Gun" is REAL...you're body is paralyzed but your mind is awake and they might "unplug you" and there may be no way to let people know you are alive...

Joe - So I watched Manhunter today; thanks for the recommendation! You’re right, great use of color there as well. And I didn’t know ‘Red Dragon’ was a William Blake reference, so that was super cool. But more pertinently to this show — Will and Hannibal have that same ‘God does it all the time’ conversation, but in a different context… So would you consider this show a prequel to Manhunter, or an alternate storyline?

Out of curiousity, I checked what Flanery O’Connor story Dr. Bloom was reading to the Hobbs girl… it was “A Good Man Is Hard To Find”, which is very very morbid and not at all suited for being read aloud haha. I suppose every one in this TV show is a little strange, even the people who seem well adjusted. Fantastic episode btw.

Just to note: Gretchen Speck, the lady asking for her medication at the pharmacy, is a character from Wonderfalls, an earlier Bryan Fuller show. She’s played by the same actor. // „Stamets“ is also the name of one of the characters in Star Trek Discovery, who also has a storyline that includes mycelial networks. Just bc we were talking about it on the Pushing Daisies 1.01 thread!
