You never heard of this movie because the Weinsteins bought it and waited a year to dump it on the market without any promotion. It should have been an art house favorite like Jeneut’s other film, Amelie. Jeneut’s only other English language film was Alien Resurrection. Before the Alien movie he did a couple of quirky French Sci-Fi movies, Delicatessen and The City of Lost Children. Both to me are 4 star movies. After Alien R he made his most successful movie Amélie, which everyone should see, as well as A Very Long Engagement. Micmacs is another good one. Amélie was a huge worldwide success and was nominated for 5 Academy Awards and was in The New York Times’ list of 1000 best films ever made.
