Glad y'all enjoyed this one! I saw this for the first time not too long ago and it instantly shot to the top of my favorites. Can't think of many movies that are powered solely by empathy which is the crux of this young man's journey. This also is seen at the perfect time as the US continues its campaign against Iran where this movie comes comes from. There's a lot I like in this movie it has some beautiful subtleties like the old door maker at the end who takes his shoes off before going upstairs and how his handmade doors are leaving the town and being sent to Tehran likely to decorate some wealthy people's homes. And how Ahmad sees a pair of brown pants and of course there can be no other brown pants that exist in the world besides his friends! It does a wonderful job of seeing the world as a child does. The director got his start making movies funded to be specifically for children about children so he was very experienced working with kids when he made this. And believe it or not this is the first of a trilogy! Don't go looking up anything up about the trilogy tho I promise you the content of the others is surprising and fun. Hope this brings people to this movie that wouldn't have heard of it before! Thanks for watching!!

Extremely happy you watched this foundational Iranian classic at this particular time, guys. I haven't seen it in years so I'll try to find a time to watch this weekend. The other two films in the trilogy (Life and Nothing More, 1992, and Through the Olive Trees, 1994) are very different in tone - they are sequels only in a kind of meta-sense - but excellent too. But if you were going to watch only one other Kiarostami, I'd encourage you to see Close-Up, widely regarded as simply one of the best films ever.

It feels so real and was a such a frustrating watch as the adults undervalue the opinions of children. I think you picked up earlier in the video that all childrens lifes are dictated by adults and completing a task like homework may be more complex than adults acknowledge. the protanganist was faced with many obstructions but was able remain kind and compassionate towards others. Ultimately i think this movie shows the difficulty of doing the right thing when the world is set up against empathy. I really enjoyed watching this film with you guys!!!
