The song that Charles was singing in the car is from a musical that’s on your watch list so you’ll be hearing it again soon.

Charles is one of my favorite characters, but the whole cast is incredible. Especially Holt

If you want to see some more of Andy Samberg (and also JK Simmons) I'd warmly recommend the sci-fi comedy Palm Springs. I think it was widely overlooked just cause of the nondescript name, at least that'd why I ignored it for like four years. But, as much as I can describe it without giving anything away, it's got a lot of heart that it takes its time to dig up from under geological depths of flawed human regrets and cynicism. And there's Celeste & Jesse Forever, uniting Samberg and Rashida Jones from Parks & Rec in a romantic tragedy with no jokes whatsoever as far as I can recall. . .

Palm Springs seems to have been forgotten but everybody I knew was really glad to have watched it. It was a very fun escape movie in the depths of COVID.

I won't comment anything that could be a spoiler for where characters go in the series, but I will say Charles Boyle is a main character. He's no more a side character than Schmidt was at the start of New Girl.

FWIW, Google says that a lot of the show's most memorable lines are ad-libbed. Everybody got in on it, even Braugher.

Sure it would be strange if all the people in the opening credits didn't become significant characters when given eight seasons to develop. :3 Of course there are a whole bunch of them, do I don't think it's strange they haven't all been well defined just four episodes in. Rosa Diaz is the one I've been watching, she gives such a different impression in the early episodes I've never noticed on account of binging the first three seasons or so when I first learned of the show.

The rule of three on the 'people not being able to read Holt' joke is absolute perfection - the cut to him yelling at Scully kills me!

It’s a sitcom so i don’t expect it to be realistic but Terry painted an oil painting in a few hours and it was dry enough for handling on the same day? I’m not an oil painter but I don’t think that’s how it works.
