If they wanted to start Hannibal, the movie, they could just start it now

> Tome-wan (止椀) is the penultimate, savory course in a traditional Japanese kaiseki meal, usually consisting of miso soup served alongside rice and pickles. It signifies the end of the main meal and acts as a final savory filler before dessert. <

> The "Mobius Fish in Aspic" from Hannibal Season 2, designed by food stylist Janice Poon, features Greek anchovies arranged in a Mobius strip, suspended in clear chicken aspic, garnished with long bones. It is a "Kholodets" (jellied meat) style dish designed to look "disgusting" and mimic fishing lures. < "Feeding Hannibal" at Amazon: https://a.co/d/0cNAptga

Take note: there’s a post credit scene at the end of the season finale.

Fuller & co. were told by NBC's Standards & Practices that, as long as they had Mason carving his face in shadow so we can't really see the act of it, they could have him lean forward and show us the result without getting censored. That whole scene with Mason tripping balls is so surreal. I kind of hate that they used Will's dogs as the dogs Mason feeds his face-bacon to, but it makes sense and it's not like it harms them (except maybe upsetting tummies that are used to highly curated dog food). "I am enchanted and terrified." Thanks, Mason, for summing up my feelings about this show.

So many thoughts on this episode! “It will be someone you love, and you will think it’s the only choice you have.” Uh-oh. I’m very worried about Alana too. The psychedelics Hannibal gives Mason remind me a lot of the Scarecrow’s thing in Batman Begins…and the gory reveal, rather like the Joker. Bit odd that he has a WWI style prosthetic lower face at the end instead of bandages, but it fits the aesthetic of the show, so never mind. Real glad he’s done though. *gross shivers* “There is no mercy….parts that have overgrown the reptile brain.” My guy, everything that makes us human is there. That’s kinda the point. How apt that Hannibal brings up Achilles and Patroclus. The text is unclear whether this relationship was platonic or erotic, but it was definitely stated that Patroclus (the younger of the two) as beloved to Achilles. And if I remember right, it’s only after the death of Patroclus that Achilles confronts Hector directly. I have a feeling that…well, we’ll see.

Food notes! (Because that's totally what everyone wants on this show 😬) Kholodyets (Холодець… the X or Kh is that clear-your-throat sound). You’d think that be an old-school dish, like many of the things that Hannibal makes, but to my knowledge, it’s still quite popular (non-human versions, of course). “Aspic is derived from bone.” Not quite. It’s rendered cartilage. Before gelatin was available as a powder, cooks and housewives would boil calves’ feet halfway to forever to extract it… In fact, if you ever have occasion to use powdered unflavored gelatin - even today - you’ll notice a distinct bovine smell to it. And that’s why…Sorry, I’ll stop.

Funny that Joe calls last week's dinner "The Manimal" since there actually was a truly awful TV show that aired in the fall of 1983 when I was 17 which only survived an 8 episode run called "Manimal". It was about a rich Batman like shape-shifting "super hero" who could assume the form of various wildlife to help police solve crimes. The only good part was Stan Winston the FX guy behind Jurassic Park worked on the show. Here is the cheesy intro https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dNX5Z9WwHF0

Weird request sequence given that slashing Lecter's jugular would lead him to pass out before being eaten by the hogs- he woul want him to suffer

If you want to lose weight- keep that thought as you eat jelly beans, jolly ranchers, gummy worms, "swedish fish" and other such snacks

If you want a really close shave- go to Lecter....

The actor playing Mason is one of the stars of Boardwalk Empire....which I still highly recommend as one of your long series

You should check out Mindhunter (2017), only 2 seasons and David Fincher's masterpiece. It's set in the late 1970s that chronicles the creation of the FBI's Behavioral Science Unit (BSU) at Quantico

Grosses thing the show ever done. Yes, that fish in jello was absolutely terrifying. Can't believe that season 2 is almost over. I remember watching Mizumono live, what a trip that was. And then there was an over a year wait for season 3. It was a torture. Make sure to watch post credit!
