I love season 2; the queen is amazing and this first episode is so good with its forbidden love story between Edmund and Bob!

Actuarial Lurker

The conceit is that this Black Adder is the great grandson of the prior one and we have leapt forward from the 1480s/1490s by about 100 years since they mention the Spanish as enemies and the Spanish Armada attempted invasion of England by Spain was in 1588. This Black Adder is more intelligent but is now of lower station- not a royal but a courtier, Percy is just as dumb, Baldrick is similar

Yay, season 2! One of my three favourite seasons!

Queenie (Queen Elizabeth I) did execute a lot of people, especially Catholics. Hence why people tend to tread carefully around her. 😀. + While I remember there's a geographical joke in a future episode, a reference to the Isle Of Wight, which is just off (in sight of) the south coast of England.

Oh don't skip the end credit songs. Each one is a funny summery of the episode plot.

You'll recognize Flashheart (Rik Mayall) as Drop Dead Fred.

I'm surprised no one said yet, but unfortunately, Brian Blessed does not reappear in the series. If you want a huge dose of his best, watch the "Flash Gordon" movie from the 80's. That also has an incredible soundtrack by Queen. Rik Myall, on the other hand, was a freakin' legend. He had a role in the "Harry Potter" series, but made the kids laugh so much they had to cut his part. He was a well known comedian and actor, best known for this recurring role in Black Adder and as a discontented 20-something in "The Young Ones". This was one of the shows which defined the 1980's for many people, including me. It was an insane comedy about four British guys who are sharing a house as they either slack off or go to college. Definitely one of the funnier shows of that era.

Love Queenie

The opening with the snake crawling across the tiles made me think of I, Claudius.

Sweetbaby Silvernale

This is my favorite season. 3rd & 4th are amazing but this warms the cackles of my English Lit heart
