Balazs Foldes

I love this episode, for sure. Sorkin just does what he does best: make you think and make you feel. Clever-tricky-interesting storylines, and really touching ones. All condensed in a single episode. The Tars and Spars guy - was just funny and deeply touching. It reminded me a bit of the West Wing episode, where Bartlet gets a letter with his personal mail code on it, but makes no sense, so Charlie starts investigating, and finds the old guy who wrotethe letter to... Truman or somebody. And then gets invited to the White House. The 'scouting for a black writer' plot was also interesting and funny. I think it was a brilliant writing idea to go and listen to somebody really bad, and then accidentally catch somebody with potential. Also, Simon's story with his responsibility for the black community.... touching. Then, Tom and his parrents. Dunno, probably I'm not the only one who felt a connection immediately for having parents not understanding you and just being cringe, and you having to control yourself and hold yourself back from saying something supposedly witty but really just hurtful that you immediately want to take back... god, Imiss m parents, may they rest in peace. Anyway, a family's generations not understanding each other due to different age, different social background, different upbringing is something many good plays are written, and was interesting to dip in it here. And then, the moment about the little brother in Afghanistan. Yeah, Sorkin did an outstanding job here as well, filling up the second-tier characters (Simon, Tom) with some real content and interesting background. And the actors nailed it.

Fun fact, the girls that Danny tries to set Matt up with that "didn't crush the SAT's or anything" are actually 3 of the briefcase ladies from Deal or No Deal. It's another NBC crossover casting.
