The Last Day of Bunny Folger

From the podcast/radio show Bunny was listening to: "He works out at the YMCA... in Park Slope, Brooklyn!" <- this is referring to former mayor de Blasio. It's not crazy because there's anything wrong with that Y (I live near there) but because it's a ridiculous distance from the mayor's residence just to go to the gym. The bit about the bridges changing names is probably referring to the replacement for the Tappan Zee Bridge over the Hudson being named for Mario Cuomo (Andrew's dad, himself a former governor) and the Triboro Bridge between Manhattan, the Bronx, and Queens being renamed for RFK (senior, of course). You might get some side-eye from native New Yorkers if you use the new name for either. If Mabel bought that "champagne" at a Key Foods then it's not just not real champagne- it's not even real sparkling wine. Grocery stores in NY can't sell wine or liquor at all, so the most you can get is absolutely garbage "wine product" like chateau diana.

Interesting. All the other intros have started off with Bunny outside walking a small dog but this is the first intro we've seen her walking her bird. Personally, I love Bunny. She's every older, upper Westside, Seinfelder sitting in her favorite diner with stories that would knock your socks off! She was at Woodstock! C'mon! She's safely managed a building with thousands of people living in it for 25 years and managed (with an iron fist) to keep it elegant and mysterious and gorgeous. The spirit of the Arconia is palpable. The spirit of the Arconia is Bunny...

Oh no - poor Bunny! I love that we got to see more of her personality, including some genuinely sweet moments... She's sort of the epitome of 'kind but not nice.' And I agree, they absolutely should've invited her in. As far as suspects go, Nina is probably the strongest so far. Granted, it is indeed unlikely that she'd get into an altercation at nine months pregnant (I can't imagine "fight an old lady" being on the list of activities for inducing labor, lol)... But she could have an accomplice of some kind.

I enjoy the episodes where we get to see behind the curtain of these characters. Bunny is a very complex person and while she can be rude and gruff there's also a kind and generous person in there. That last scene where the three of them shut her out is so sad to watch, she's clearly very lonely.

One of the many great things about this show is that, filming in NYC as it does, it makes use of actors who are the bedrock of Broadway theatergoing. Bunny is played by Jane Houdyshell, a legend as far as I'm concerned. I've seen her as Mrs. Peterson in Bye Bye Birdie and Solange (who sings "Broadway Baby") in Follies. Uma is Jackie Hoffman, similarly indispensable for those colorful secondary roles. She played several in On the Town. Benoit Blanc fans will know her as Dave Bautista's no-nonsense mother in Glass Onion. And back to season 1 and Tim Kono: I saw Julian Cihi in the recent revival of Take Me Out (in which Ryan Broussard, Oliver's son Will, was an understudy).

Probably not thousands of people, it's one mid-rise building, I'd guess a couple hundred residents. You're spot-on otherwise.

I googled it and this Architectural Digest article says that the building that is the shooting location for the Arconia has 211 apartments. https://www.architecturaldigest.com/story/modernization-historic-building-only-murders-in-the-building-filmed Assuming some are older single people, others are couples with no kids and perhaps some have 1 kid (since rarely do people live in Manhattan with 2-3 kids- they move to suburbs) I'd guess 1.75 people per apartment so 350 residents at a time Over the course of 25 years if an apartment in that kind of building "turns over" 2 x that would be a stretch...I would assume 1.5 changes to new owners/residents so 2.5x the resident load So 350x2.5=875, so my "GoogLe Headquarters Interview Question" estimate for the number of people who ever lived there under Bunny's supervision would be under 900.

When my wife and I lived on the East side by the UN there were 2 major YMCA's in the area The Vanderbilt Y on East 47th between 2nd and 3rd where we would go and the Lincoln Square one on 63rd just off Central Park West named such since its a couple of block from Lincoln Center. Anyone in the Arconia would work out at the latter if they didn't go to a private gym chain since it would only be 20 blocks away- a 20 minute walk... The YMCAs on Long Island are excellent and not heavily used during the day (if you are self-employed like me and can go at weird hours in the middle of the day when its full of senior citizens)- MANY NYers DO use the Y rather than pay for some ripoff chain that is a disguised singles bar where people just sit at the juice bar to hit on other white collar people after work

I love the inverse of season 1 in this episode. When they were exploring Tim Kono's character, they assumed he was a decent person and discovered how he was kind of a dick; now they're assuming Bunny was kind of a dick and discovering how she was a decent person. The trio shunning her at the door is EXCRUTIATING to watch. All three of them really are terrible in social situations!

Youtalkingtome

That's a great call. I felt really bad for Bunny in this

Youtalkingtome

A very lonely person. I'm so invested in finding her killer

Youtalkingtome

I just know this reveal is gunna be wild. At this point I have no idea

Youtalkingtome

This episode really made me feel for her and yeah, I'm gunna be rewatching season 1 with a new appreciation for her

Find it so funny that you assume Uma was trying to rob Bunny, my immediate assumption was that she was her executor (cataloguing things for the estate) and Howard was there as the board member to let her in
