There is one thing that bothers me about this episode. Just cause retroactively we know the guy committed the crime, doesn't make it right. Jake didn't have sufficient cause to arrest him. It was a wrong - and I'm no lawyer but it seems illegal - thing to do regardless of whether or not he actually ended up doing it because Jake had no way of knowing that at the moment of the arrest. He didn't have a warrant or probable cause. I still really like the episode because it is funny, but that always bothered me.

Agreed it’s so problematic. And the evidence Jake finds isn’t that strong either. It’s not like they found any actual proof he and his old cell mate were partners.

"A lot of fat guy clothes have racist overtones." One of the most unexpectedly funny lines ever.

That giant guy I remember from one thing, that Ben Stiller movie, Dodgeball.

You're completely right, and the evidence he did find was completely circumstantial. I think, with this show, I just ignore the police procedural aspects of it (they will probably always be paper thin) and focus on the comedy among the cast.

This episode is everything great and terrible about the show. It's very entertaining copaganda.

Fair on both counts, and if it were Law and Order, I would be waiting for cop to get suspended, but in a comedic world, the smug guy is always guilty, and the hero doesn't arrest innocent people.* *Unless it is REALLY funny

I swear, every time I watch a reaction to this episode it devolves into talking about pie, I love it! Also, Joe's right, apple pie is The Best Pie. (But cake is better.) Fun fact, when Jake started strumming the guitar and screaming, my phone told me I was playing a Slipknot song!

Yeah, I sometimes have to remind myself that this is a workplace sitcom, not a procedural, but that ending does bother me quite a bit. That being said, it would be an extremely unsatisfying ending if Jake just failed. I don't know how you could make a lighthearted joke about that.

Joe hasn’t seen Westworld? He should definitely consider the first season of it for his next solo watch although wasn’t it removed from streaming?

i loved the wet hot american summer tv shows 'first day at camp' (2015) and 'ten years later (2017)' it was on netflix so funny

I also feel like making that particular suspect a Black guy was a particularly.. bold choice. Given the higher rates of incarceration and wrongful arrests of Black men, just gives that subtext of "you should just arrest Black guys without evidence because they're bound to have committed some crime"
