Lost in America is another must see Albert Brooks flick.

According to ai... The Mickey Mantle rookie is the most valuable post-war sports card, with high-grade examples selling for millions. A SGC 9.5 Mint+ copy sold for a record $12.6 million in 2022. Even the low grade cards can be worth $50k.

Watching this after it first came out helped me with my own relationship with my mom. I’ll always remember our 3 hr phone conversation when I learned about her life before me. It completely changed the way I looked at her. The way I understood her. Thank you both for this reaction

I had never seen this before. Having taken care of 4 grandparents up until their deaths so much of this is relatable. My two grandmothers did get into an argument about salt one time. I worked for a phone store in the 90s those video phones were futuristic garbage with extremely low quality picture streaming video over dialup speeds.

So glad you guys enjoyed this underappreciated little gem of a movie. An interesting note is that the film originally was intended to have a different, much less optimistic ending. But during filming, Brooks met the woman who would become his wife and fell in love, and so mid-stream, he rewrote the ending to give it that hopeful encounter with the woman at the gas station. As to the "revelation" he has about his relationship with his mother, what I took from that was that he had thought all these years that his mother hated him for being who he was, and he now believed that what she had hated all along was the way his ability to be his own person and WRITE, as she had longed to do. It freed him, and allowed him to feel adequate with women. It may be delusional, but it helped him. I also thought Rob Morrow was absolutely delicious as the jealous, needy brother. He didn't make Jeff a villain, just showed how deeply flawed he was under his confident exterior. Lovely film.

Lost In America is probably the best (that scene with Garry Marshall!) but Real Life and Modern Romance are both fantastic as well.

I'm a sucker for a big softy ending. I think you nailed it though. As delusional as it all may be, I do think he's in a better place by the end of the movie

It's amazing what grandparents can choose to fight over lol

It's true. Mint-grade ones are exceptionally rare, though, but his looked really good.clean.
